i agree, no need for powerchord intro AT ALL.

agree again, and i'd love to hear you, or any non-dutch speaking user here really, pronounce DEN HAAG. :P

I prefer them pronouncing Utrecht.

another good one :)

Nice write-up, Pete. You pretty much summed up how I view this song.

Garden has always been my favorite song from Ten and for years it was #1 on my "songs I want to hear live" list. I first heard the re-worked version from a link that someone posted over in the trading forum. I only listened to it maybe 2-3 times, but I did like it quite a bit.

Fast forward to the Vegas '06 show. I remember when they started the song, I thought to myself, "I don't recognize this, is it a new cover?" lol Then they came in with the regular into and all I could think was "holy shit, they're playing it!" It sounded so beautiful and hearing the crowd singing along made it that much better.

I don't show...I don't share...
I don't need...what you have to give

That is my favorite part of the song and I love how Ed delivers it. It comes across as angry and almost forcefull.

I give it a 4.5 stars.

What are the first lines Eddie says on the old version that he's apparently cut from the new one.

if we are talking about original version, 5 stars. i love it; lyrics, the way the music flows, solo, esp 1994 versions (atlanta). if we are talking about 2006 version, 1 star. it has lost so much in terms of music. the intro, the solo, the flowing between verse/chorus. and i realise eds voice changes over time but doesnt have the power and emotion that it used to. it is still amazing on most songs but this is one it just doesnt reach the mark it should. dont get me wrong,i would love to hear this song, new or old version, but i wouldnt help to compare it to early versions.

i love the 1994 atlanta version. mike's solo is great, and dave and stone's work during the solo just add so much to it i think. great version.

other than that though, i don't really get into the song...i'd enjoy hearing it live, but wouldn't miss it.

3 stars

The direction of the eye
So misleading
The defection of the soul
Nauseously quick
I don't question
Our existence
I just question
Our modern needs

how do you not love it?

You know, I used to seriously love this song, but now I can't think of anything but Creed when I listen to it. I'm sorry, but Scott Stapp has totally ruined this song for me.

The pretentious lyrics don't do anything to help that.

what would Creed have to do with this song? Totally different leagues in my opinion...

I've always thought that the garden/deep eddie is the one that Scott Stapp really imitated so I hear what he is saying

still, it's a waste to compare those. You might as well start listening to Kane (really bad Dutch band trying to imitate not only Eddie but also Bono and lots more).

groetjes,
Mirella :)
