Their #1 was pretty predictable, but I'll never understand all of the love that STADIUM ARCADIUM has garnered. I don't hate the Chili Peppers, and have always moderately enjoyed them, but I found ARCADIUM to be a couple steps down from BY THE WAY, especially in constructive cohesion. With a few exceptions, the tunes meander with an unfocused charge. Their latest single 'Snow (Hey Oh)' is a good example of what I'm referring to--the main hook is barely registered for such a high-profile single. That magnetic pull of sound and harmony evident on the Peppers' best stuff is washed away for the most part.

I agree with you. The Chili Peppers' coming in 10 spots ahead of Johnny Cash is a joke.

I'm happy the tasty Avocado rated so highly, but I was very surprised to see The Gothic Archies actually being recognized at #39 with "The Tragic Treasury." Long have I loved Stephin Merritt, although he has rarely loved me. Sigh. Seriously, though...the guy is a great talent who deserves a bit of cumuppance--in a positive way.

They were nowhere to be found in the Spin top 25.

I guess you didn't read the Ten Past Ten retrospective a few years back.

There some goofy entries and starnge arrangements in RS's 2006 countdown, but overall, I think it is a pretty good list.

Wasn't it SPIN that didn't have PJ in their 25 Best Live Acts list a few months ago?

This is a question that needs to be answered pronto.

It's interesting to read all the comments about the RS list:

http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily/index.php/2006/12/14/hate-em-love-em-its-rolling-stones-top-50-albums-of-the-year/

There is definitely some love for PJ on there. You can also vote to change the list...

I bought it off iTunes, because I thought his last solo album had some decent stuff. I grew up with pop music, so I don't hate it as much as some of you guys do.

Don't get me wrong, I still prefer PJ waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more than Timberlake.
