nice write up
til my son was born i felt the holiday indifference, i usually just worked or really did sleep all day
Seeing christmas through a child's eyes made all the difference
having a kid does revitalize the christmas spirit i must say

Made me pull it out and put it on repeat spin since it's December and all Image (figurative spin, I don't have that single, haven't been a member that long!).

Damn! I just Image this song (no I'm not drunk, no alcohol at all today in fact :P )

I heard this on PJ radio last night. Man I forgot how beautiful this song is.

Last night my family was at my uncle's house in Jersey as we do every year, and have done since I was 5 or so. My 12-year-old sister and I spent most of the day holed up upstairs to avoid the elders getting drunk, and we passed the time by playing guitar and listening to music. The whole night, my 3-year-old little cousin kept asking when she would get to open her presents. She's normally pretty energetic and high-strung but nothing compares to the Christmas-eve-night buzz that kids get. My aunt and uncle informed her that even though Christmas eve presents come early, they had to wait for Santa to call and give permission to open them, so she retired to upstairs with me and my sister. She seemed intent on staying up to wait for Santa to come, so I did my part in keeping Christmas alive for her, and I told her what my grandma (this was our first Christmas without her) had told me when I was 8 or so, that Santa comes to New York city at 1:30 AM, so for such a young'un to stay up for him was futile. Me and my sister sat on the steps next to the tree watching her zip around the room looking for presents, and it made me think back to when I was younger. There was nothing like the night before Christmas morning. It was cold outside, but the atmosphere of the day was so warm, you never noticed. I never had a truly white Christmas when I was younger, although I always wanted one, and the first thing I'd always do when I'd wake up, even before going to wake my little sister and parents, was peek outside the window, always praying for snow.
I hope my little cousin feels as great as I'm sure every kid does around Christmas at that age, and that the magic is never lost on her.
But as me and my sister sat on the steps last night, hoping to catch some of her innocent festive spirit, all I could think was "when I was a kid, how magic it seemed..."
Likewise when my sister came into my room this morning and woke my dog, who was sleeping at the foot of my bed, only to wake me up by sticking one of his paws into the back of my neck, all I wanted to say was "Let me sleep, it's Christmas time..."

This song will always be special to me because it reminds me of a that innocent naivety that I, like... I hope... every other kid felt at Christmas time. Last year one of the best gifts I got was from my dad, and it was Lost Dogs. 'Tis the season, I suppose.

Please pardon the bump.
5 stars.

Nice reminiscence, Tig. Rest assured, some of that feeling comes back when you start a family of your own. It's a different but equally special thing to be in charge of making the magic.

The best Christmas song ever, outright.

I didn't think ST was a Christmas song, but either way it is awesome
