As of today, the site of one of the earliest PJ videos available is now closed for good. As with all the rest of the chain, this version has been having its going out of business sale for the past couple of months. Picked up a good deal of stuff at 40%, 50% and finally 75% off. Went by today to make one last visit and there was a sign on the door saying that they were closed for good after Friday. The Pearl Jam appearance there was 15 years ago last month. While the band lives on, the store is done.

I saw the Foo Fighters play a free show in the parking lot of this Tower Records back in 1997. I think a lot of great bands passed through that particular location over the years.

i worked at tower in tyson's corner and alexandria, but the rockville store did get some awesome in-store appearances, like the aforementioned shows.
technology and convenience can be an awesome thing, but i will forever miss staring down mile-long rows of CDs, ready to begin searching for that next new gem. i think ipods are cool, but i don't own one. i will someday, but i refuse to admit that the CD format is dead.
i'll also miss flipping through the discs under the "pearl jam" tab, just to see what's in stock. despite owning everything, i'd always standing there wishing there'd be something that miraculously appears that i'd never seen before.

I went to that same show. That was promotion for the Foo Fighters second album. Definitely an kickass show.

LOL
I video taped that show but some crowd surfer (yes, someone was crowd surfing in the parking lot) kick the battery off of the camera during the final song.

We went through this in Tacoma, WA where I live about 10 years ago. When it closed here I went there one last time and bought a Led Zeppelin calendar and something else...though I can't remember what.

hahaha well being that I was in high school, I think I crowd surfed at that show. I don't recall kicking any cameras though so it wasn't me
