I'm 5'1, and get stepped on easily. I like having a 'seat', not for the sitting, but for the basic signal it sends to most decent people that 'this is my personal rocking out space'.

That's okay, really. When I saw U2 in Toronto during the PopMart tour, everyone on the floor was standing on top of their chairs for the whole show. Needless to say it was very uncomfortable.

Seats suck, GA rules!
if you want to sit,
stay home and sit on the couch,
if you're too small for GA,
stand in the back and off to the side,
or stay at home and play with a puppy,
or get yourself a big PJ fan, for a boyfriend, to protect ya.
the GA crowds in AC were weak,
thet could have fit a couple hundred more people on the floor,

I really wish they woul dhave the floor at their shows GA. i have a high ten club number, so like no chance of getting more than halfway up on the floor. Seriously if you watch any videos from recent u2 shows, their crowd is so much more into it on the floor, and i gurantee you their average age is higher than that of a aPJ show.
ANy chance the band could make half the floor seated and the other half GA with the ten club members choice of seats or GA??? didnt they do this at the borgata?

hmm.. in my rip old age of 28, I've really lost my fondness of being squished up front, and getting my head taken out by crowd surfers.
that being said, If its a show that i'd stand no chance of hell sitting in the first 10 rows at, I'd rather have GA.
I like being close at a show, and sometimes its hard to get decent tix. So at least with GA, if you're brave enough and tough enough, you can get up close.
It really puts small people at a disadvantage though. I'm 6'2 and 200 pounds, which makes me pretty solid in a pit. You don't see many girls in the pit. a 5'4 110 pound girl would get tossed around like a beachball.
I think the love for GA just depends on mitigating circumstances.

has everyone forgotten about roskilde? i am going to be very surprised if the floor is really ga. i will be super surprised. it is one thing in a 4000 person venue where a decent amount can be looked on by the band but the stadiums in SA are ginormous and i would be shocked if it was ga.

Oh no,
not this old debate again...
I went to a Mando Diao concert last week (Swedish rock band who, for me, are as good as the Strokes). It was a very small venue, so I had no problems to see anything, but still... the whole first 10 rows in the centre was one mosh pit. People were in there who have seen at most 5 minutes of the concert. For the rest they were moshing, whatever fun that is.
The shows in Canada were my first rock shows with seating and I have been enjoying them A LOT more than anything else.
(maybe it's because those were my first PJ shows, but anyway...)
GA can be great sometimes, but not at harder rocking concerts where you wanna be upfront and not want to be in the moshpit...
EDIT:
plus, of course,
with Pearl Jam, you know Eddie and the rest will be watching more what's happening in the crowd than really enjoying the shows. I absolutely don't want to be a pessimist here, but I think that will certainly influence their shows. They won't be at ease, I think.
