INFORMATION ON THE FILM

From imdb.com

Formerly going by the title of "I'm Not There: Suppositions on a Film Concerning Dylan", this is a film about the life of Bob Dylan. The film follows seven characters, each embodying a different aspect of Dylan's life story and music. It's the first biographical feature project to secure the approval of the pop culture icon. The film is about the life of Bob Dylan's early days as a struggling folksinger, the rise to the forefront of the early-'60s folk scene, the controversial switch to rock, the motorcycle accident and the subsequent retreat from public view, and the latter-day de-emphasis of recording and concentration on the concert series known as the Never Ending Tour. Sounes somehow has uncovered some new information in that oft-scanned showbiz legend, mostly about Dylan's childhood and his jealously guarded family life. Some of it actually provides further insight into his songs, particularly those about his wife, Sara (Gainsbourg). Sounes also blows the lid off Dylan's heretofore unknown 1986 marriage to one of his backup singers. Each story expresses an aspect of Dylan's mercurial personality and each story is to be filmed differently, in a style appropriate to its theme: Woody (Franklin) - an 11-year-old black boy, always on the run; Robbie - a womanizing performer, always on the road; Jude (Blanchett) - the young androgynous rock star; John/Jack (Bale) - a folk idol who reinvents himself as an evangelist; Billy (Gere) - the famous outlaw, miraculously alive but growing old. I'm thrilled that ed's all over the place. We've got tons of things to be excited about these days....

But then i started to think about I'm Not There and I'm wondering...do they really need to make a Dylan biopic? Do they realize that he's not dead yet!?

All the more reason to do it now imo.
I freakin' hate it when we wait 'till someone's not around to pay them respect.

it looks like it won't be a proper biopic since many actors including actress Cate Blanchett will incarnate Dylan at various moments of his life - i was really looking forward this movie before i even knew Eddie was involved.

Yeah, it's by Todd Haynes, a very stylized look at his music using his life as a backdrop.

It really sound fascinating.

I would kill for Ed's take on "It's all over now, baby blue".

I think he would be awesome doing that one.

I thought his forever young was pretty bad. I loved the times they are a changin' from the nader tour. But I'm sure there's a ton of songs he could do well

Wow, just saw the 2 minute clip from that website. Cate Blanchett is surprisingly convincing as Dylan...this looks really exciting. And as for that soundtrack, the rumoured artists involved looks amazing - Karen O, My Morning Jacket, Sonic Youth, Wilco etc. Wowza. I'd love to hear Eddie do a Bob cover we've not heard as opposed to Masters of War/Times they are a-changing. 'Boots of Spanish leather' or 'If you see her say hello' would be amaaazing :)

I'll bet he's been asked in the past to do numerous projects and hadn't said yes. I could speculate as to why he's saying yes now (aside from the quality of the projects) but I'd be wrong.

Well I dont want to speculate either but I gotta tell you guys what I heard the other night. Last Friday night on Jim Breur's Siruis Satellite Radio show he said that He has word from a ROckstar who is supposedly friends with Eddie that the rest of the band is/was not happy with Eddie Doin the SOundtrack to the Sean Penn movie by himself and that the tension got even worse on the European tour and according to this rockstar the band is very close to calling it quits.

They ended up talking about this for quite a while on Friday, So on MOnday (day after Lolla) I called into the show and made them explain the whole thing again and they said they sware it is true... So now I am a little freaked out... they dont have any more dates scheduled as a band I DONT KNOW... its probably bull but just the thought is scary

I have way too many more PJ shows and tours to go too!!!!
