really, I'm not sure of an album which opens so weakly
breakerfall, gods dice, evacuation???
the third is hated by most (though I like it NOW), the first just doesn't sound good on a stereo, nor are the lyrics that interesting, and the second lacks distinction
i remember being home visiting my parents for their anniversary the day before it came out, spent the night, and on my way back to my dorm room, i picked it up right outside my parents subdivision and tried jamming it on the way...and it just blew.
Evac. just sucks.
The first two just needed to longer. I like both songs but I feel just as the song gains momentum...they are done.
So I pretty much count Breakherfall and God's Dice as one song, then skip onto Thin Air.
Binaural is still number two over all.

im sick of people saying that they dont like a certain song on binaural or binaural as a whole because it doesnt sound good in stereo. Newsflash, its not supposed to, hense the name. Listen with headphones and rock out. Thanks.

I should try that, but I'm afraid I'd love the album too much then

i'm sick of people saying they are sick of peoole for hating on a record that is one of the band's least impressive overall, and that's not considering what they left out nor how they sequenced the stupid thing. good experiment? why was it remixed by a different engineer to cover some of the tracks. other albums by tchad sound a lot better on a stereo, why does this one not? divergent opinions are welcome.

I used to love Breakerfall (when the album came out and during that tour). But it's since fallen out of my favor, and I have never liked GD or Evac at all. Weak opening to my least favorite album.
I don't think I follow the stereo vs. headphones comparison.
What is the difference? I always thought stereo speakers would be the best option because the sound is better. Maybe I say that because I have $5 earbud things from Wal-mart.
I dunno.

the the technique the album was recorded, not entirely coincidently called, this is called binaural recordings, is best captured with headphones on.

Really? News to me, I'll have to check that out this weekend. This is exactly whey I joined this little forum.
Thanks Butters!

Several tracks on Binaural were recorded using binaural recording techniques, hence the title. These can usually be identified by a warm sound to the music, such as the acoustic "Of The Girl" as well as an asterisk next to the name on the track list.
Binaural recording is a method of recording audio which uses a special microphone arrangement. Dummy head recording refers to a specific method of capturing the audio, generally using a bust.
The term "binaural" has often been confused as a synonym for the word "stereo", and this is partially due to a large amount of misuse in the mid-1950s by the recording industry, as a marketing buzzword. When played through headphones, binaural recordings can reproduce the auditory sensation of being present at the recording location much better than conventional recordings either through headphones or loudspeakers. Conventional stereo recordings do not factor in natural crossfeed or sonic shaping of the head and ear, since these things happen naturally as a person listens, generating his own ITDs (interaural time differences) and ILDs (interaural level differences).

you may come back a different man. it's enlightening if you have a good pair of headphones. you'll hear things you've never heard before.
