k...i dont wanna get anybody too excited..but when i heard this i had a hard time staying calm hehe...
my friend spoke to a lawyer who apparently is working on the permit and legal issues related to a concert PJ is planning at Downsview Park in Toronto for Aug 10-11..its a two day festival including Neil Young and Bob Dylan...downsview park has a capacity of around 400,000...irs where the stones played in '01 for the SARS benefit.
this is for real...i really hope this comes to fruition.
ps i know in an earlier thread about this i posted a lineup that included tom waits, chris cornell, radiohead, etc... that wasa joke...this is apparently for real.

As awesome as it might be, I really hope that it doesn't happen for 3 reasons:
1) Outdoor GA shows are absolutely horrible.
2) A show with Neil and Dylan would likely mean an opening slot and shortened set list.
and
3) 400 000 would likely mean that we'd be in for the greatest hits treatment.
If they want to play up here, they should do a couple of shows at the Molson Amphitheatre.
well apparently PJ is 'spearheading' this festival effort, whatever that means. whether that just means theyre organizing it or theyd actually get the lead slot i dunno. i agree thats its heard to see them feeling comfortable headlining above their heroes.

Is Bob Dylan really an outdoor summer festival type of performer these days?
Very much so.
As mentioned, he did Bonnaroo in 04. And he's been doing the outdoor ballpark thing for a couple years running now. Granted, those aren't festivals, but there's usually 3-4 groups playing on those tours.
