yeah, that was a pretty good idea dmb had. didnt they let fans vote on which show they would like to be released at one time? if i remember correctly the 3 major dmb fan sites voted prior to the official vote. so they, as a fanbase would get a solid release.
DMB is still doing it with their LiveTrax series. Complete concerts in wonderful digipak packaging. Available for purchase only through their website. There are 7 volumes so far with shows from 95, 96, 98, 04 and 06.
It is such a great concept but probably too much to hope for from 10C
It looked like PJ was going to open the vaults but that seemed to sputter out following the release of an utterly random 1993 show.
I am about 100% positive the Atlanta won't be re-released because the complete show is widely available unedited and with great soundboard quality.
Still, I would love to see some nicely packaged releases of the older shows.

I definitely think this would be a fantastic idea, I was so disappointed when nothing else followed the Las Vegas '93 show.
The cynic tells me that they won't be doing it though until the next long hiatus between shows, 2008 or so I guess, as they probably think they'll maximise their sales by staggering their release so folks don't have to choose between the new shows and the vault shows.

yeah, which is a sensible policy, even if it isn't what i'd like to hear.
I wouldn't be suprised to see us get a show in two-three months though

they should tour w/ dmb
they're my two favorite bands, but I have no desire to see that at all
i pretty sure i would kill myself right after the show b/c nothing could ever top that.
it's always bizarre for me to come here where people point at what DMB does with their live releases and say, "I wisj Pearl Jam would do that." Because I spend a lot of time wishing DMB would do what Pearl Jam does ...

i see both sides of it. i like what dmb is doing b/c its not just downloads and its mostly older stuff. obviously, releasing every show you play is awesome, but i wish pj would sell boots w/ packaging and shit. also, pj was pretty good in the 90s, id like some good recordings from back then.

I'd definitely like to see Pearl Jam dip into the vault some and release older shows, but I'm pretty comfortable with them just being downloads. I just don't think it's feasible for them financially to release old shows commercially. It would be great to get some nice packaging, old photos or whatever, but I won't hold my breath.
I like to hope that they will hold off on the vault releases until after they call it a day x number of years from now. A great show from 1994 will still be a great show 10+ years from now. I'd much rather see them focus on a new album and touring. Part of this is just me being cheap, because I can barely afford to keep buying the new shows, let alone if they are competing with older shows. They'll be plenty of time for that later....
Plus, I think they pretty much saturated the market for physical live albums on the record store shelf. I would imagine the casual fan would probably not even notice a new live album unless they put some serious promotion behind it, and I find this possibility very unlikely...
release an official soundboard Atl '94 (the WHOLE thing, not just 3 discs with most of it), Randall's Island '96
Atlanta '94 would be useless. There would be tons of bitching by fans because we'd be saying "We already have that one...it's one of the widest circulating shows"
What I'd like to have (WITH PACKAGING!!):
1/17/92 Seattle - The Even Flow video show, Baba O'Riley for the 1st time.
A show from Asia '95 tour
Randall's 96
MSG 9/11/98

Atlanta 1994 would be a waste. There's a couple of promo discs (mine's an aussie one) with the full show.
Touring with DMB...hm, keep it in America. I'd rather cut my own throat than listen to DMB...
There should be more vault shows...preferably soundboard/multi-track masters as opposed to recylcling old audience tapes like a certain CD that came with Avocado from the Ten Club.

kinda like DMB did back in the day with their first couple of live bootleg releases
Phish started all this way back before DMB.
yeah but phish blows and dmb is great
Phish is one of the greatest bands of all time. Lots of people don't dig the sound and that is fine. No sense in trying to convince people otherwise.
When it comes to taping, yes, Phish was allowing soundboard patches and full scale dat + mic setups throughout the 80s and into the 90s. They refused to sign their original record contract with Electra without the stipulation that fans would still be allowed to tape at all live shows.
However, among Phish, DMB, and Pearl Jam it was DMB who first released a complete live show and that was the 1995 Red Rocks concert released in 1997. (NO, PJ's Dissident singles series doesn't count). Also don't forget that DMB's debut album from 1993 (Remember Two Things) is actually a live album so they have Phish beat there too.
While Phish had live albums (starting in 1995), they did not commericially release a full lengh concert until 1999 (Hampton Comes Alive).
Raising the bar, Pearl Jam made a groundbreaking decision to commercially release its entire 2000 tour.
Phish then started its LivePhish series in 2001 which eventually put out 20 fully packaged achival shows spanning 1989 through 2000. In January 2003 Phish upped the ante by releasing its entire 2003 tour as soundboard downloads AND making the downloads available within 48 hours of each show.
Not to be outdone, Pearl Jam got on board with the online bootleg method and also tried to make their shows available within one or two days of each performance.
Overall, PJ is still king in terms of opening the door to the sheer volume of live material available, but they are dragging their feet with the archival stuff.
Phish has probably done the best job of making archival material available and started its own record label (JEMP) devoted entirely to archive releases.
DMB is still a close second and definitely does a great job providing quality packages of classic shows (at least 15 or so currently available).
