I was sifting through my vinyl collection this afternoon (after sneaking out of work early) and was looking to throw on a PJ record. I was thinking of putting on LOTL. Arghh...4 sides. It seemed like too much of a commitment. Advocado? Played the CD in the car earlier. No Code? Too much gatefold action. Riot Act? Nope, still sealed. It seems I always prefer the single LPs over the double vinyls.
I think PJ are at their best when things are a little tighter and more concise. And as a listener I like digesting albums easily... a 50 minute, side A/B is the best way to do it. All killer, no filler. To me, this is just one more reason why Vs, Vitalogy and Yield are just perfect records. (As long as you lift the needle after Immortality!)
It's the same with other artists too. I will put on the Axis vinyl any time, but never Ladyland even though I prefer it. Have we become this lazy in our music consumption?
Does anyone here prefer the 2LP experience?
8 Track?

Not ragging on you here, this is more a general statement then anything, but is it that hard to get up off your ass once every 15-25 minutes to flip a record over? I don't think so.

No, I'm not lazy. It's not a matter of laziness. It's not the flipping. It's a matter of the continuity.
PJ create their albums as sides (even Advocado is very split)
There's something about 4 sides on a double LP that just kill the flow.
