These tracks have the song title as the file names but when I burn to CD it gets just track 1, etc and no tags. I use Nero to burn. Is there some means of getting them burned with either the filename or tag?
Also what is the best means of getting something from a flac file into MP3 for personal use on a portable device as far as losing the least sound quality and also keeping file names or tags.

There are about three other forums which this question would fit into better than Pearl Jam Chat (most likely Tech Support).
But anyways, when you burn a CD there is no way to retain ID tags if you want it to be playable in a CD player. You're going to have to label the tracks yourself someway.
To make MP3s, you must first convert the FLACs to WAV (using FLAC frontend), and then almost any program will convert to MP3 (Windows Media Player, iTunes, Musicmatch, etc.). I reccomend iTunes (free from apple.com). DON'T DISTRIBUTE OR BURN THE MP3s!!!

he can burn the mp3s all he wants for personal use; just don't trade them
There is no reason to, he has the FLACs already, he will have to convert to WAV before Mp3, so why not just burn the WAVs. The only reasonable use for MP3s is for iPods etc if you have the FLACs to start with.
