they're a super band in their own right, but do you think your emotions and feelings caused you to start listening to their grunge music?

My emotions and feelings caused me to start listening to music in general - I wouldn't generalize it to PJ or "grunge".

No. I began listening when I heard Even Flow; it was for their musicianship rather than an emotional impetus. However, when I bought Yield their emotive quality registered completely.

I couldn't avoid PJ in 1991, being in Seattle.

i'm not angsty much, so that's definitely not WHY i listen to pearl jam. and as i get older, i find myself heavily leaning towards the more mellow side of their music-so it doesn't make me angsty. but i'd be lying if i said listening to ten, and for me, personally, especially VS.- it definitely made me "angsty". of course, being in college at the time, a lot of that was fueled by copious amounts of very cheap beer.

I started listening to pearl jams music that was a bit less angsty, mostly on binaural and yield, but I enjoy all of the music. I used to hate the group because of the TEN songs that where playd on the radio (jeremy, black), but i like that album anyway, though i dont listen to it much.

but I think on some level the raw emotional quality of pjs music does appeal to me, call it what ever you want.

Pearl Jam isn't angsty music, that's what my punk and hardcore collection is for. PJ is just good music.
