I was just browsing through TSIS's songbook while listening to some Vitalogy, and came across this gem:

ah torture...follows reward...
follows torture...follows reward...
oh, oh my butt...

I'm pretty certain it's actually "oh my word". Gave me a good laugh though.

I think it says that in the vitalogy booklet. Not the lyric though

i think its before the last verse in satans bed. i also think he might have tagged that "torture follows reward..." line to another song. it might have been rats, i wanna say blood too

I'm not sure how it ever ended up "oh my butt" that will have to be changed because it's not correct at all.
If you break down the left/right channels of the song audio, you can clearly hear Ed speaking through one channel and not the other. If you listen to just that one channel it's pretty clear he is saying "oh my word".

Listen here: http://theskyiscrape.com/phpBB2/temp/ohmy.mp3

I also see nothing about "butt" in the booklet.

hmmm

I know I've heard it before. i assumed it was written that way in the booklet. I wonder what the origins of this is then.

That's got to be where it originated from. Although I don't consider that pj.com lyrics as canon because there are numerous errors in their records and info.

i think it has to do with the devil poking someone with his trident thing, but honestly that whole song has some strange lyrics

This thread reminded me of another hard to hear moment, on Push Me, Pull Me. In the beginning of the song there is a buzzing sound, someone pushing some button or whatever, sounds like a really old door bell. Then you can hear someone smash whatever is making that buzzing sound with a hammer. It makes one last dying buzz then dies out. You gotta have a good ear. Something more noticable but still cool is during WMA.., you hear organ and some other weird stuff, but I always loved when the soldier-esq "Uh Ah, Uh Ah, Uh Ah" backing vocals come in. Sounds like a bunch of cops marching along looking to beat up some more brothers. (I think the line "police stopped the brother again" is interchanged with "police stopped my brother again") Either way, WMA is soooooo underrated. Sorry for rambling off topic, I always heard "Oh my butt" on Satan's bed.
