I'm writing a paper on how Pearl Jam is not just a band but a culture. I was wondering if you could share how Pearl Jam is a culture, what made it a culture, and links to articles that have talked about the subject.

trading, in general, could be described as a culture, and pj has done its part in permitting tapers and providing official boots to promote this culture. There is also a a definitive culture associated with RM, or any other board for that matter, and pj's activism helps foster a certain culture among its following.
I dont think their fans are as obvious as the dead heads, but there is some material there for an interesting paper. good luck.
