Over on the message board on pearljam.com, someone was asking if anyone had a list of the songs that Ed did not write the lyrics too. It did not take me long to compile the list, but after I did, I had an idea:

I understand that on TSIS that you can look up any Pearl Jam song and it will tell you who wrote it, but it does not specify who wrote the lyrics versus who wrote the music.

I think it would be cool if there was a section of the site where you could click on any past or present member of Pearl Jam and it would display a short bio of the person, along with an alphabetical list of the pearl jam originals they have written lyrics to, and music for. I think it would be a cool reference guide.

Anyway, i wanted to see if anyone would take my suggestion seriously and if anyone else thinks it is a good idea.

Thanks!

This is something I've wanted to see for a long time.

Sweet! Im not alone.

I was thinking also, along with a different section for each member, you could have a different section for each of the collaborative Pearl Jam lineups, since there are many songs written by "Pearl Jam."

My idea would be to change the URL to something that people can actually remember.

I wonder what percentage of people on the board now were around during those days.

I remember going to that site while I was connecting to the internet with Compuserve, through a dial up.

Ah man, remember the old photo album? It had a similar and entirely unmemorable address.

I was talking to a pearl jam fan friend about the good ol' days back before high quality official bootlegs and before the internet.

what was the first thing you typed into the internet when it became available to you? i typed "pearl jam" and found a page that told the story behind Alive. my friend and I laughed because the first thing each of us ever typed into the internet was "pearl jam"

i remember this site when it was a rutgers.edu/~ address.

i also remember finding five horizons sometime between 1996 and 1997 and reading the entire concert cronology.

Yup.

The reason I first went on the internet was because in the summer of 97, a friend had given me a (too many generations) tape with some rarities including Brother, Let Me Sleep, Hard To Imagine, and some others that I had never heard before. Because I had a few singles and the 5 Muskateers and Chapters bootlegs, I thought I knew about all of the rare Pearl Jam tracks. When I found that I didn't, AND the songs I didn't know were really good, I just had to find everything I didn't have. So I went searching for the songs and any information about rare tracks I could find.

MP3's were really just starting to get widely understood around that time, and they were completely unregulated, so you could get mp3's of any song, released or not, from any number of sites. This is what turned me from a huge fan to a freak. The funny thing is that there are still a few songs that I don't have in the highest available quality, so the quest continues.

Same here. In 1995, my freshman year of college, the first think I ever typed into a search engine was Pearl Jam, before I even set up an email account. :D

What does The Sky is Crape mean anyway? I mean, shouldn't it be The Sky is Crepe or The Sky is Crappy?

This is a great idea. I think some of you could do a better job than I could on this (I don't know a whole bunch of details about each member  ), so if some of you wanted to write up a bio and/or a list of who wrote what, feel free to e-mail/PM it to me and I could put it up.
