May 30, 2007 A Crocodile and a Dog Walk Into a Temple…
Like a chorus of howls at the moon, there’s a rumor going around that one-time absolutely incredible super-band Temple of the Dog will reunite for a Seattle show. Next month. People are already begging for tickets on Craigslist.
We haven’t the slightest clue if this is a cruel hoax meant to fuck with our Singles-era-loving heads, or if there’s truth to the rumor. Seattlest Jack did say he “saw fliers†for such a show at the Croc last week. But their site reveals nothing. So we’ll watch this and speculate.
Why this rumor is complete bullshit:
Andy Wood, whose death in 1990 was the catalyst for ToTD, hasn’t risen again, a la Jesus Christ. And the anniversary of his death was back in March. June is no special occasion.
Chris Cornell formed ToTD to honor his friend and former roommate’s short life. It was a creation of love. These things, like marriage and presidential blunders, only happen once.
Pearl Jam, whose current members comprise five sixths of ToTD, kicks off a month-long European tour on 6/8/07. They’ll be busy. And far, far away.
Why this rumor is entirely, possibly accurate:
Andy Wood, whose death was the catalyst for ToTD, hasn’t risen a la Jesus Christ. But Audioslave did recently die and get resurrected as Rage Against the Machine (sort of). And Cornell’s about to dip his toe into solo artistry again. Good time to tug at the old-school fans.
Chris Cornell formed ToTD to honor his friend and former roommate’s short life. It was a creation of love. Like marriage and presidential blunders, love is even better the second time around.
Pearl Jam kicks off a month-long European tour on 6/8/07. They’ll be busy. But not too busy to treat home-town fans to a “secret†show, say, in the next week or so. Or between London and Dusseldorf.
Anybody know anything about this? We’re oh so curious. And prepared to commit grave sins to acquire tickets, should they actually become available.
The secret Temple of the Dog reunion show scheduled for June 15 at the Crocodile is officially not happening.
Crocodile music booker Eli Anderson says via email: “Temple of the Dog are NOT PLAYING A SECRET REUNION show here. Not…at all…i’m serious. The calls need to stop.â€
Chris Cornell didn’t return calls for comment, as didn’t Eddie Vedder, Stone Gossard, Mike McCreedy, Jeff Ament, Matt Cameron, or Cameron Crow.
The Crocodile’s website reports that the un-secret Sweet Water reunion show WILL be happening on June 15, and June 16 as well. The Croc’s phone number is (206) 441-5611. But don’t call.

My first thought is that this would be cool. Then i remembered how shot Cornell's voice is these days. I would rather them not do it.

There's as much of a chance of this happening as Jenna Jameson calling me and begging me to assfuck her for a couple of hours on national TV.

Between London and Düsseldorf in Seattle would be ridiculous. Two days between both concerts, the time zone difference, back and forth And isn't Chris Cornell still in Europe too?
groetjes,
