Chris Cornell is on Howard Stern this morning, and Howard is a huge PJ fan... He was asking Chris about who he knows from back then, and was saying that he and Eddie are REALLY good friends.

He also talked about Mother Love Bone, Temple of the Dog and gave a few name drops for Well Water Conspiracy and Matt Cameron...

thought it was cool to hear this.

Say what you want about Stern, at least he has GREAT taste in music :)

Howard's a Pearl Jam fan?

It is kind of funny that he brings up another band during Cornell's interview, though.

Cornell brought it up...they were talking about Temple of the Dog and Howard asked if Eddie was an asshole and Cornell said he was one of his best friends and that he was genuine.

Howard in the past has said PJ is one of his favorite bands of all time. Given the chance to pick a Pearl Jam show or Nirvana show, he's taking Pearl Jam everytime...

I don't listen to Stern anymore (just because I'm usually not awake  ), so that's news to me. I'd love to hear a Howard and Ed conversation about tits.

no i'm not much of a morning talk show person. i used to enjoy howard when he was with jackie back in the day. It just seems that fred And Jackie seemed to be the comedy of the show, and Howard took the credit for it.

Now, Jim Rome is funny.

he still has people write some lines for him, but some of the shit he comes up with is great. jackie was just on with them about a month or so ago. last week while howard was on vacation they had two days of jackie material going on replay...it was good shit.

most people who like one, dislike the other...actually, i think it is more along the lines of if you like Greg and Anthony, you hate Howard. If you like Howard, you could give two shits if Greg and Anthony are there or not.

I like Howard. Have heard some Greg and Anthony...it's okay, but I could care less if they were around or not...

Stern rips PJ just as much as he praises him. Love Reign O'er Me was slightly bashed. He's mocked Eddie by talking like the teenager from the Simpsons claiming Ed's mellow demeanor is all an act. His shows are available on various bit torrent sites.

One of his sidekicks thinks Eddie's not as real as he comes across. I recall hearing Artie Lange say something like "say what you want about Nirvana, at least that guy had the courage to blow his brains out." Classy stuff.

not really...he gives much much more praise than criticism. he's praised just about all of their music...he said the cover was alright, but he liked the who version better. so he cracked jokes...big deal...he cracks jokes about himself too. he thinks all that rock star stuff is an act and cornell pretty much agreed with it today saying that to be a rock star you have to be depressed and angry...it's expected of you. he asked cornell about it today and cornell said eddie was a genuine guy and stern accepted it.

he's said glorified g is perhaps his all time favorite song. picked pearl jam over nirvana any time.

so big deal artie is more a nirvana fan than pearl jam...who the fuck cares?

edit - stern did criticize eddies handling of ticketmaster and clear channel...he only stated that he wished he would've come on the stern show so they could've worked together and gotten more bands/acts involved. he thinks eddie went about it the wrong way.

The show is called opie & anthony, so maybe you have heard of that. opie's real first name is greg, but the show has never been called greg and anthony.

although i enjoy stern a lot he also whines with the best of them. so some of his whining can be taken as strong criticism. he also has a big ego and doesnt like when people don't come on the show after multiple requests.

in one hand i think ed would be a great guest, and they could have some decent discussion. on the other hand, like most of stern rockstar guests, he tries to get into the groupie questions, and all that sexual stuff. i don't think ed would have anything to do with that type of interview.
