i think these two(solat and breath) along with even flow single version, illustrate very clearly a transition away from classic arena rock influences in the vs. era when compared to the ten era. i dont know what to specifically attribute it to; some might involve dave a. vs dave k., some involving ed taking a bit more control over what was recorded, some with brendan o brien, some with playing together live and finding how things worked, etc. I don't know, but it's a very interesting contrast between the early versions of the songs and the versions recorded only a year or so later.
but also interesting is that this slower paced feeling isn't present on some other up tempo tracks like Porch and Once.
Oh, and Once sounds fuckin great, btw.
