Pretty good

He got beat by 50 Cent, Kanye West, Chamillionaire, Reba, and some other talentless chodesuckers though

That is pretty solid for a solo album with a few covers, some instrumentals and a handful of unfinished songs. I didn't think it would chart that high at all.

#4 on iTunes for the deluxe version, if you threw in the other it would be higher.

There's a lot of anticipation about this movie. This is the soundtrack for that movie. Eddie Vedder also has a lot of good will, to put it mildly. I thought it would do better than 11 because of how well it was doing on iTunes but I take that as a sign of the lack of publicity on TV. Charlie Rose isn't going to sell CDs. Oprah sells CDs. Letterman sells CDs. For all the "publicity" Ed appears to be doing, it's not for album sales. It's geared towards building momentum for the movie.

It's working.

I can see this selling modestly for awhile after the movie comes out as well.

That's higher than I was expecting. And yes, if the movie does well at the box office I can certainly see more copies being sold.

Wow, that's pretty impressive for a folksy-movie soundtrack 8)

You mean this piece of crap of an album? Of course it sells. It sells because it stinks. It's a very simple Vedder formula. Evidence - I Got Shit.

there really isn't a difference. momentum for the movie means more album sales.

The publicity Vedder has engaged in for this project has been nothing like what's been done to promote record sales. If the movie sells albums, that's cool but he's not done the things we've seen done in the past. This appears to be a movie marketing campaign with him tagging along with his best friend. That's not to mock him nor to praise him. What ever he wants is perfectly fine. I don't care. All I want is the music. But it's an accurate observation.

yeah, but if you take into consideration, minus movie sales, plus record sales, it pretty much makes it all relative which eventually will boost movie sales yet limit soundtrack sales, that is according to previous stats. it really has nothing to do with publicity. it's basically how these things work. it's a double negative. it's a pity really.
