I know that some of those guys have close ties to San Diego (Family, Friends, etc) with the terrible fires going on down here, I hope it has nothing to do with that.

I'm pretty sure it was cancelled before this, but so many people are affected now we can only hope the best for everyone. Almost 1 million people evacuated? God.

I know for a fact that some of Eddie's close family was impacted by the fires. However, I had no idea that he was going to cancel his Bridge appearance until i read this right now. I am honestly a little surprised.

I have to say that I am selfishly relieved about his cancellation since I personally had to cancel my plans for the show just the week. That is a total bummer for those who were going to the show. It will still be fun but obviously not nearly as cool.

Personal family matter, huh? I hope it has nothing to do with cheap eggs.

Eddie/Flea/Jack canceled before the fires started.

This is such a shame, I was really looking forward to hearing this if a recording came to light.

I'd give anything to hear Jack behind the kit for Corduroy again, the Hullabaloo version is amazing.

It looks like you are totally right. The cancellation was apparently annouced as early as 8/16/07 so it must have had to do with something else. That doesn't change anything about my earlier post, but it seems that the cancellation was due to circumstances unrelated to the fires. Whatever the reason, it is too bad. Actually, I am now kinda pissed that it was kept on such a DL status. If I had shown up on Saturday and learned that he wasn't playing I would be livid. pearljam.com should have made an announcement if this was known so far in advance.

I agree. Communication to the world has never been one of his strengths. This is probably exacerbated by the personal nature of the cancellation. He's letting the concert promoters deal with getting to word out rather than using his own resources. He may not realize that 1) people aren't finding out about the cancellation via the normal channels - radio etc., and 2) a lot of people really were going just to see him.

I'm glad you found out now and I hope everything is ok with him.

I couldn't agree with you more. I am going to the show on Sat. and I found out about this today. It would have been nice to get some sort of notice from the band's people. I only found out because these boards are back. I hope everything is good with Ed...I'm just sad about the show though. A lot of money and planning was put into getting these tickets, arranging a place to stay, and plane tickets to get there. I was going to see Ed. I am still excited about the show and the lineup, but it's disappointing to say the least.

Right. The thing is, Eddie knows how bad cancellations can be. He's been through hell because of cancellation and will crawl on stage to avoid it. He'll perform with the flu, with laryngitis; he'll vomit behind the speakers to keep going so... So this is either very significant, or he didn't think he mattered like Pearl Jam matters and it won't affect a great many people.

I'm hoping for the clueless option.

but since PJ.com never announced that he was playing the Bridge in the first place, there's no reason for them to announce he won't either.
The place were you booked the tickets on the other hand should have emailed people about it I think.

Also, it's not clear if the family matter is Ed or one of the other band members. If the later, it is still possible that Ed will make an appearance.

Sounds like it was Ed who canceled...although they did spell "due" wrong so...

All kidding aside, I hope Ed's okay. We all know from past appearances how much he loves appearing at the Bridge shows, so for him to cancel makes me wonder what the hell's going on. :peace: Ed.

I can't find a link to the post right now, but Sea on Synergy posted something along the lines of "we're sorry but Ed definitely will not be making an appearance at Bridge."

Definitely hope all is okay for him.
