Jack saved the band emotionally in 96. But Matt saved the band and created the the post ticketmaster fight pearl jam. Matt recreated over a dozen songs with his insane drumming. Matt is the pearl jam drummer.

I'm in... Yeah, Matt's the man. I think PJ saved Matt as much as he saved PJ. I read somewhere that Matt was devestated by the Soundgarden break up, so PJ was somewhere he could keep playing at the top-level I guess...

I think I love Binaural so mucj because of the drumming. It's a totally different style, and it changed PJ. It's so much deeper because the drumming is so complex. Take NAIS, that could be have some standard, turgid beat behind it, but Matt turns it into something special.

I always love the boots just to hear what he changes-up. Matt your the man...

Ah, this is refreshing. I'm not the only one that think Matt's the best drummer Pearl Jam ever had. For me, he is the man, that added a new dimension to the band

Cameron's Stallions! - I think I see three....

I wouldn't say that Matt plays Black poorly, but no one could even touch Dave A's playing during Black.

This is a Matt Cameron appreciation thread though, so I will say that Matt is a great, great drummer and I'm really happy that they have him and his energy behind the kit

Matt catches a lot of shit around these parts, and I just wanted to say that I've always been a fan of just about everything he's done. From Soundgarden to Wellwater Conspiracy to Pearl Jam, I can't think of many other drummers that push the envelope as much as he does. His songs might not always sound aces, but overall he's a great asset to the band.

Cheers to Matt.

Matt is, and has always been one of my favorite musicians. Not only is he my favorite Pearl Jam drummer, he is my favorite drummer of all time (he's inspired me to play someday). One of the things that I admire about Matt is his range and style of music. Some of my favorite Pearl Jam songs are ones that he has written, i.e. In the Moonlight and Cropduster, etc. I think that his songs have taken Pearl Jam to a whole new level as far as creativity goes.

I think that he sounded fantastic on the 2005 tour and he really brought Even Flow and Given to Fly back to life. I thought that both songs were starting to sound a little old and lifeless.

Oh, and I'm loving how he sounds on the new songs so far, especially Severed Hand (the only leaked song I have heard).

Black is a song where the drumming really needs the drummer to express themselves through the music. matt is an extremely emotionless drummer, as opposed to dave a, which isnt always a bad thing but when it comes to black it just doesnt work for me.
