I've never been to impressed with this tune. It's one of the Ed songs that makes me not crazy about the middle records. I feel that Ed was going for simplicity, but it's almost too simplistic. I think. It's like a useless song to me, almost an interlude to Hail Hail.
I like the song even less when its played live. The atmosphere is gone, and on the version I have heard, Ed clangs the strings too quickly. It doesn't sound nice and I'd prefer Long Road and/or Release any day. It is also my least favorite album opener.
SIDE NOTE: To me, this song will always be the song that has so little of Mike it in, he can go take a dump while the band plays it live.

yeah, thinking about it I can't think of a live version of this that has ever done much for me.

i give this 0 stars it sounds like eddie doesnt even care and maybe its becuz he cut his hair or something but hes not screaming anymore i almost fell asleep during this song its so boring now once theres an opener pearl jam really lose me with no code that album stinx compared to ten!!!!!! which is a masterpiece of modern musics i bet beethooven would be jealous of eddie vedder you know? lol
