So I watched Single Video Theory again last night and imagined how great it would be if they did something like that again for the current sessions.
I mean, concert DVD's are great, but I'd like to see some material that has a more personal approach. Shows the band in another environment altogether. I'd want it to be rough, barely edited and long (the 45 minutes of SVT was just too short).

I wanna see some heated studio arguments! None of this e-bow crap!
I wanna see them fight and spar and create create and have that pure creative process.
Exactly, the direct, personal approach. No selection, no censorship, no veil. The ups and downs. The diamonds and the dirt. The euphoria and the anger.
Now that'd be a true gift to their fans.

I agree. Although I thought SVT was too short, I want to see more of the band in raw studio action. The e-bow stuff is only slightly interesting though...

svt was an awesome idea. ive stayed up countless nights watching this when i couldnt sleep from doing E, but pearl jam is a band, im not as interested in the personal aspect of things as i am into them performing and me going crazy. and i think svt was a one time thing, we as fans arent involved in the creative process so it was a real treat for us to see how it goes on in svt, but thats the only time i could see the band doing something ilke this

i would love it if they had a project like Metallica's A Year in a Half in the Life of... movies. part one showing the studio recording process (as well as post production, we could see jeff making some crazy art!) and then part one showing the antics going on backstage in the world tour supporting the new album....oooh how i wish, cause the metallica one's are just fantastic

guys, just talked to Ed on the phone. he said he was sorry to make me wait, but he was worried about the time difference... here is the news: the album is called 8 and will have a horizontally positioned number eight on the cover to represent the infinite. it'll be launched in the first week of May 2005. but there will be a special free release for the 10C members and all RM members on the internet as an actual Easter Egg by the end of March, with rough recordings of rehearsal sessions, comments on the songs by the band, audio and video. passwords will begin to be distributed in the beginning of March (no seniority criteria).* rolls to the left side and keeps on dreaming*

Wrong film. The one they are talking about is pretty old. I think it may have been the making of Black or And Justice For All.

Yeah it was the making of the Black album and the tour that followed.

I like the A Year and a Half DVDs but Some Kinda Monster blew my mind. That film shows such a human side to these musicians that seem so far out there. they're just regular guys that sit there, play guitar, open their eyes wide and say "whoa, that sounds good, get me a guitar cable". it's great. and yes, everybody in the film except Rob Trujillo cries at least once during the movie. it's pretty emotional considering how tight knit the guys in metallica are. they basically grew up with each other. i think a pearl jam one would be great.
