So this past Sat. night (3/24) in Newport, RI, I popped my PJ tribute band cherry and saw a band called 'Ten' from Pitt. PA. Holy shit, are these guys good!!! certainly not as good as the real deal but damn, I even think the lead singer really thought he WAS EV. they did as good of a job as i can imagine a tribute band doing. they did all the tags during the usual songs, all sorts of 'rare' songs that only a a few other i saw clearly knew, and of course a few of the hits that everyone and their mom knows. they really did put on an awesome show for a 'cover band'.
Has anyone else here seen 'Ten'?? any of you guys from Pitt?
well, since my first PJ tribute band experience went so well and PJ aren't coming around here anytime soon, and I need to get my music fix to function normally, I did a little homework and found that a couple other PJ tribute bands are playing near me soon. 'backseat lover' are playing in Worcester, MA april 7th and 'Itchy Fish' are playing Lupos in Prov, RI may 28th. Both of these shows are local to me, not sure about anyone else here....
anyone here seen these 2 bands? any reviews? worth the time?
i'd love to hear your thoughts on any other PJ tribute bands you may have seen....
I'm sure i'll get my fair share of 'i'm wasting my time' and other BS responses but whatever....Eat a fat one if you must tool on me.........

I'm really curious to hear what everyone else thinks of BSL. I heard them briefly on our way the PJ show in Boston last year when they were playing the Harp and they sounded really good.
They've played a few other shows in Worcester in the past year but we've always had something else to do but I need my fix So, if anyone's seen them are they worth the 40 minute drive? I know it's not that far but we're from a small (un-named) north central MA town and Worcester is kind of a hike for us.
I saw Itchy Fish in Hartford, CT back in probably '01. And i think they broke up after that for some time so it's nice to see them back.
The show was a LOT of fun. They played some good rarities but I do remember them not doing too many of the Yield, Binaural songs (or any). I'm sure they've expanded since then.

I think "10" is definately the best of the tributes. Newport was my 1st time seeing them, and I agree, it was excellent. I have seen BSL twice, and will see them again in April, but i think "10" was a bit tighter and that lead singer is dead on. I love hearing PJ music live, and since I won't have the chance to be in Europe this summer...

Itchy Fish used to play around Albany in the late 90s and early 00s.
I thought they were very good, and also thought they broke since I never heard of them coming around again.

Cover bands are almost always never worth it. Go support original artists in your community. Thumbsup
oh don't get me wrong, i do support my local bands that are worth while. but a PJ tribute band on an otherwise totally uneventful night will work for me ANY night.
most people who come to their shows really get into it by the end, and i met a few people from buffalo who have started driving up to toronto to see them week after week also!
speaking of tribute bands, i just moved to california and i am looking for a good one out here.. anybody know of any? i heard of Dirty Frank, but i am not quite convinced from checking out their website...
so as i previously posted, i went and saw Backseat Lover last saturday night in worcester, ma.
not too shabby....nice guys too
i had a better time because of the crowd i was with at this show, and i was wicked drunk, but overall as a band i thought TEN was a better tribute band. but who am i to judge...

Hello,
Evenflow will be next friday here in Monterrey MX, the cover is $18 dlls. I have seen them once past year, they played very good.
I have seen local bands doing PJ tributes, just one is a decent one, they are called Citizen Dick, hehe. But they haven't played long time ago.
Some local bands were popular years ago, like Zurdok, Jumbo, Kinky. There's one guy called Chetes, from Zurdok, has a good debut album, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chetes

ive seen alot of tribute bands, and i got to say, i was browsing through youtube and LoveTheory blew me away. I'm a musician and i pay close attention to detail and tone, and these guys got it down so much that if i didn't listen to the singer, i probably wouldn't know the difference for the most part. The singer is a little too much like the guy from Seether, actually alot like him, but he plays guitar well, and the band, especially the other guitarist is really good. But overall, they get the songs down to a tee, especially their tone. I was so impressed i had to post this. Too bad they perform in Italy, cuz i would pay to see them.
