THIN AIR

There's a light,... when my baby's in my arms...
There's a light,... when the window shades are drawn
Hesitate .. when I feel I may do harm to her...
Wash it off,... cuz this feeling we can share...

And I know she's reached my heart,... in thin air

Byzantine... is reflected in our pond...
There's a cloud,... but the water remains calm...
Reaching in,... the sun's fingers clutch the dawn to pass...
Even out,... it's a precious thing to bear...

And I know she's reached my heart,... in thin air
Yes I know she's reached my heart,... in thin air

It's not in my past to presume...
Love can keep on moving,... in both directions...
How to be happy and true...
Is the quest we're taking on together...

Taking on,.. on, on, on, on...
Taking on,... on, on, on, on...

There's a light,... when my baby's in my arms...

And I know she's reached my heart,... in thin air
And I know she's reached my heart,... in thin air
Yes I know she's reached my heart,... in thin air

Yes I know she's reached my heart.

I think that THIN AIR is a very pretty song. It opens with subdued acoustic guitar strumming and bells. It’s not one of the tunes that was mixed by Tchad Blake, but I feel that it has many of the best attributes from the Binaural sessions. There is a feeling of space that was not captured by many of the other songs.

The song has nice pacing, and there are a series of mini-climaxes before the bridge, when it builds to a final dramatic conclusion. I like the way that the vocals are constructed. The multiplication of vocals and layering of high harmonies sound very nice and create a bit of drama in what might otherwise have been a very placid tune.

Some of the imagery sounds pretty although the meanings are a bit obscure. Byzantine is certainly an interesting-sounding word.

All in all, a very pleasant little tune. 2 stars.

I think you said it. It's pleasant. There's nothing I can think of that's actually wrong with it. (OK, the lyrics are pretty odd, but ... hey, it's Stone.) And yet it doesn't move me really, nor am I ever moved to listen to it.

2 stars because 1 just seems punitive and 3 seems overly kind.

That's a nice evaluation. I agree, it's pretty. The melody and arrangement are very pretty.

Love it, love it, love it. 5 stars.

A while back I had a thread where I ranked the best song on each album, based on track number. I believe gave "Thin Air" the nod over "Jeremy" as the best track #6 on any PJ album.

Of course, if Thin Air was track #2, then it wouldn't have beat out Even Flow. Duh.

Great tune, but the senseless lyrics stop it short of being a great song.

Two stars. Not very memorable but its never a bad thing hearing eddie sing over an acoustic guitar. Just depressing knowing they chose this over Fatal.

pretty boring song but...whatever...its fine.

True story. The lyrics keep me from really enjoying it.

I gave it four stars, I've always liked this song since they first time I've hear Binaural. I love the part after 'on, on, on'; when the bass gets room and Eddie intones "There's a light,... when my baby's in my arms...". Oh man, that's a great PJ moment to me.
