You shouldn't lay your vinyl flat for starage... it'll cause ring wear on the vinyl cover. I'got wooden crates that I store my vinyl in, the straighter standing the vinyl is the better.
As for cleaning, do quick google search, there isn't a shortage of information on the subject. Alot of different methods/technics exist depending on your budget and how often you play the records.

cheers

My dad uses a little bit of fabric softener on his - he says it keeps the dust off.

You should also use protective sleeves. so that when together by a long time they dont stick the colors to each others.

does anyone know if any good places online that i can buy sleeves in limited quantities? the only places i've found only sell them in bulk of 100+, and i only have about 10 records. i understand that its not profitable for businesses to have to ship out 1 or 2 sleeves at a time. maybe a better question would be, is if people buy sleeves online, where would it be at?

thanks
dan

I have this special brush to clean the dust off of them, it's perfect.

so it's better to have them stand straight up than lay them flat down? I've heard this weird rumour that if you stand them straight up they may get crooked
