Last night, I saw The English Beat (Dave Wakeling) at The Birchmere. During Save It For Later, he actually tagged it with some of lines from Betterman. Hadn't heard that before. Turnabout is fair play, I guess. Sounded great, though...

I'd love an MP3 of this. Cool beans.

They're coming here later next month. Maybe I should go. :)

That's awesome. I would love to see The English Beat but the only time they came here in recent memory, they were in an 18+ plus venue. That really pissed me off.

Eh...I'm pretty sure Pearl Jam only tag the song because Pete Townshend used to tag it. Or, at least that's what I read somewhere along the lines.

Very cool nonetheless.

Pete didn't tag it. He played the whole thing. It's on one of his studio albums, I think. Based on hearing it once, I don't really like his version very much.

Couldn't find an mp3 or youtube clip of the song with the tag. Maybe someday something will pop up. They are doing a lot of shows this summer. I recommend the show to anyone interested in going. 2 solid hours of nearly every Beat/General Public tune you'd want to hear.

Tour dates

As for Pete's version of SIFL, it was on a live solo album he put out in 1996 called "Pete Townshend's Deep End Live!" (not to be confused with the solo live album he put out in 1999 that featured Ed on a couple of bunus tracks called "Pete Townshend Live: A Benefit for Maryville Academy")...

There's an FM recording of the Philly show on dime:

"Other notes : Save It For Later includes a little bit of Pearl Jam's Better Man, as well as another song that I did not recognize."
