Seriously, there is "Ed" and then there is "Eddie." It happened in '95. I think the Watt/Grohl van tour helped him come to terms with it, just witnessing how Grohl handled attention. For the metamorphosis to occur though, a death was needed, and provided by Golden Gate Park. The few shows after were like the resurrection appearances before the ascension. Fitting the last show was in Chicago, Eddie's hometown. By the fall, Ed seemed to be at peace, in a different place. And if you listen to the boots from the summer and then the ones from the fall, you'd swear a few years had elapsed. Very interesting...
