I just bought a BRAND new turntable, and BRAND new PJ LP's
For some strange reason the song keeps skipping ...it keeps skipping to seconds later of the song
What to do?

Is it on the right speed?

Is it an alternative or pop record player?

Do you really think it has something to do with Pearl Jam specific records? cos I mean if you do than just get some uber underground band's records and your record player will credit you with good taste and play everything smoothly.

I have all the official PJ releases on vinyl and have had no issues w/ any skipping. My turntable is pretty good, nothing great -- it's a Music Hall and it was about $400.

Is your cartridge alligned properly? Do you have an anti-skate on the tonearm and is that set up the right way? Those are the only two things I can think of that'd be giving you these types of problems.

Once you have it set up right and have some good power, you will love the sound vinyl!

1) A lot of times SEALED vinyl gets warped, because it has been sealed in shrink wrap (read: shrink warp) for a long time.

2) Check the tone arm on your turntable. Many good players have a way to adjust the weight balance so that the tone arm stays down on the vinyl better.
