After more than four years of research, I have confirmed that members of Pearl Jam do not post on message boards.
Thanks,
Coach

Very unlikely.

Does that piss you off? I only say this because the red sox pitcher Curt Schilling posts on sox sites all the time.

Honestly, picturing any of the guys in PJ sitting at their computer posting on the message boards makes them seem, well, kinda nerdy, and really ruins the image of "coolness" that I've built up for them over the years. Except Stone, who kinda looks like the computer club president.

Well, I think it's human nature. I'd be curious as hell if 1,000s of fans across the globe were posting ideas and thoughts about me and my band.

Eh, I don't think they care really. If I had the time and money to do as i pleased, i doubt much time would be spent on the computer.

 Really? I knew he'd posted on Synergy... do you know if he's posted or just browsed?

I believe Ed said in one of his interviews that he posted (probably on Synergy) once, trying to correct some lyrics to Yellow Ledbetter or SOLAT, I can't quite remember...

Funny this is that people kept telling him he was wrong :)

Really? That's interesting, I'd never heard that before. Do you remember which interview? I know if I was in a band I'd have too little self control to not at least look at the boards from time to time.
Also, if it was a choice between Ed and us about what the lyrics are... I'm not sure I'd be on Ed's side... sure, he wrote them, but he also forgets 'em.

Unfortunately I don't. He was talking about when he got his first computer and connected to the Internet and he checked out some sites about Pearl Jam.

I must admit there's some logic here :)

well, i post here. and i'm putting together a band. after it happens, i'll keep on posting, even if i'm on tour, because i like posting. and i like posting here. because here is a very good place. a safer place. ok, we have some riots, and some posts are just lame. but it's good to be in touch with other humans, you know? maybe they come in disguise...

Didn't someone confirm that the band was aware of TSIS and RM? Maybe a browse even...not sure positive.

311 posts often on the 311 boards, they even play rarities and requests from the members on the board...its super cool

The very fact that PJ does not post on these boards is all part of the big catch-22 of being a pearl jam fan. We all have to be so cool. If we meet them we have to be cool. We have to be proud that they are not doing interviews left and right because they are focused on making music, not selp promotion.
That being said, I always wish that they would post or that fans would have some way to communicate with them. If only because they are all so smart and so involved in their respective issues and have gotten a lot of us interested and involved too. So wouldn't it be great if we could have open discussions about the books they told us we should read, and if we could suggest other things back? Or to be able to engage in open discourse about the political issues that they have come out for or against?

I'm going to start a magazine so I can interview them and pick their brains on the regular. Sure, it will take years and cost millions but in the end, I will succeed. And when I do, I won't forget about the boards!
ahh, nice dream
