This is probably my favorite Pearl Jam cover.
I first heard it at the 9-10 garden show in 98 and it was a ton of fun, especially with the hand clapping part. A real festive way to end the show.

Well, to be quite honest I could care less what type of Soldier we're talking about. Be it the last one or the one in love, if they're going to play an obscure Xmas single let's hear Strangest Tribe.

p.s. Side note... when they finally got around to playing Hard to Imagine after all those years at Montreal '98 I was the only dork standing on his seat with excitement. Security had to come by to ask me to get down. Funny thing is that I never really loved that song, as obsessive-fans we just want to go home with a little piece of obscurity.

it sounded so good at the vic man, SO GOOD... made a hti believer out of me
what took so long? that song is great
I always mildly enjoyed it, but the demo versions were never enough to justify me buying Chicago Cab for what I thought was a pristine/definitive version. The LD version sounded like the demo version, so my enthusiasm didn't increase. When I heard how good it sounded though, and the vibe and groove of the song, and Matt playing it REALLY fucking well giving it so much power... man...

i also prefer this to last kiss it was a nice little ditty to hear at Boston 2000
i would love to hear Last Soldier, which i think is way better than man of the hour, gone, soon forget etc... but no matter what setlist i get this year, i cant complain because i have seen so many songs which i never dreamed of hearing PJ play: leash, alone, ive got a feeling, crown of thorns, HTI etc
having been lucky enough to be there for the 3 boston '03 shows, the 2 boston '04 shows, and Philly '05, ive been able to hear so many rarities/obscurities
Lay down your arms and surrender to me Oh lay down your arms and love me peacefully Use your arms for squeezing and pleasing the one that loves you so
Oh there ain't no reason for you to declare war on the one who loves you so So forget the other boys because my love is real Come off your battlefield
Lay down your arms and surrender to me Yeah lay down your arms and love me peacefully Use your arms for squeezing and pleasing that's the way it's got to be
The welcomes you're using are hurting me bad But someday you're going to retreat Cause my love baby is the truest you've ever had A soldier of love that's hard to beat
Lay down your arms and surrender to me Lay down your arms and love me peacefully, yeah... Use your arms to hold me tight...baby i don't wanna fight no more Use your arms to hold me tight...baby i don't wanna fight no more
Oh baby, lay down your arms Oh baby, lay down your arms Oh baby, lay down your arms Oh baby, lay down your arms Please baby lay down your arms
