So it’s that time of the year again, time for another Pearl Jam tour. Unfortunately the Touring Van will not be partaking in the festivities this time around, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t produce another fan movie. We have always encouraged fans to share with others their own experiences during the tour, and it shall be no different this time around, except we will ask for your participation.

we hope to create a project that will continue to reflect the awesomeness that exists within this community of fans. We want to show the wide range of personalities, coming from all different parts of the world, who all have the same passion for the music and towards the community. We want to share with others the fact that seeing Pearl Jam is an experience beyond just seeing a concert.

For everyone that wants to be involved, here is the concept.


THE CONCEPT
For the upcoming east coast tour, you film your own travel adventures with your friends, submit it in to us, and we will produce a fan movie for the 2008 tour based on the submissions. When completed, the movie will then be shared back with the community and possibly submitted to the band.

Whether it is just a road trip for a single show, or a crazy adventure to multiple shows, if you want to share it, we want you to submit it.


WHY?
Filming is easy, but editing and putting it all together afterwards is always a pain, that is why I have volunteered my time into putting this together and then sharing it back with all of you fans. You can view the previous Touring Van movies on youtube or watch the latest Touring Fans movie here

The style will be more like the latest movie most likely.


WHAT WE WANT TO SEE
Whatever you want to share. It could be a log of how your trip is going showing everything that happens, it could be you guys telling stories of about special moments during the tour, you could interview fans or each other, you could share your feelings on what the band means to you….. This is left wide open for your own creativity. Whatever you want to share during this tour is what we want to see. When all the submissions are in, the best way of putting everything together will be determined. No concert footage please, only footage from outside of the shows.


FORMAT OF VIDEO
You can record with any type of camera: HD, mini DV tape, 8mm tapes, hard drive, dvd, even your little digital camera if it records clean images with decent sounds. But to keep the video consistent, please try to use a 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio. If this is not possible, then I’ll figure out a way to make it work. File formats that work best are avi and mov quicktime files, so basically you’re submitting non compressed original footage. Try to keep the submission under 30mins.


HOW TO SUBMIT
We are working on this right now, there might a page for you to upload it, but it might be through email, one of the file transferring programs, or even posting in the mail. It will be based on the individual situation.


TIME FRAME
I will allow a month of submissions and then a month of editing, to be realistic. So this project is estimated to be completed 2 months after the end of the tour, around October.
