Great version aside from Ed not knowing the fucking words. It would have been so much better. if he'd just open up his suitcase and read the lyrics.

All kidding aside...

How fucking cool would it have been to be in that room for those rehearsals?

Awesome

Dude, that's awesome. I was looking for a copy of this cover a while back, but a live version is even better, no matter how loose. Thanks!

I have a question about another song on that site. They have Ed playing (a beautiful) "immortality" by himself during the soundcheck at Verona in 2006. But if it's the soundcheck, why is there cheering as he finishes?
And, does anyone have any info about that little intro he does before the first 'immortality' riff? does it come from somewhere? I remember hearing it before live versions of immortality back in 96/98 I think. Has he played that before any other immortality's from 2000-onward besides this soundcheck? Its a beautiful little piece of music, but i dont remember it showing up for a long time.

thanks

The reason there is cheering is because it's lifted straight from the dvd, where they merge the outro of the Immortality soundcheck with the crowd noise from the start of Corduroy when the guys take the stage. I think. This is from memory.

As for the intro, i'm not sure when it was first played, but i can confirm that he played exactly the same thing before the Immortality performance at the London, Wembley show in 2007.

I believe that intro was first played @ the Showbox gig in 1996. I've got the boot and it's a pretty cool one if your a fan of No Code. They pretty much play the entire album start to finish.

I always thought the instrumental intro. to Immortality was an early version of "Foldback". Its very similar if you ask me.

Stone tries to convince Ed to play "Catholic Boy" during the actual SPR broadcast. In the "dead air" following Tremor Christ and before Porch, you can hear Stone say, "Oh, we're doin' that...we got to....", then saying, presumably to Ed, "you've just gotta ad-lib". He then plays the opening lick to Catholic Boy.

Also note that the very first guitar lick played at the very beginning of PJ's first live set is Catholic Boy, before they launch into STBC.

I've always thought they really wanted to play that song but Ed thwarted it because he either didn't know it or didn't like it.

Glad to hear the rehearsal version finally pop up, although I wish Ed had read the lyrics.

Many thanks to whomever found this and brought it to the masses.

You mean Thunderclap. I hear similarities, but so much of his music is related, it doesn't personally stand out for me as singular in that aspect.

And I soooo love it all.
