All News >> LONDON — Composers Dario Marianelli (“Atonement”), Thomas Newman (“Wall-E”) and Alberto Iglesias (“The Kite Runner”) have nabbed two noms each for the World Soundtrack Award.
The kudofest, which gives out prizes for original score, original song, composer of the year and World Soundtrack Discovery, takes place on the closing evening of Belgium’s Ghent Intl. Film Festival, Oct. 18.
Other notable nominees include Radiohead lead guitarist Jonny Greenwood, who composed the soundtrack for “There Will Be Blood,” and, in the song category, Diane Warren (“American Gangster”), Eddie Vedder (“Into the Wild”), Peter Gabriel (“Wall-E”) and Shakira (“Love in the Time of Cholera”).
David Lynch’s regular composer Angelo Badalamenti (“Blue Velvet,” “Mulholland Drive”) and Marianelli will be present at the event, where their music will be performed by a Flemish orchestra.
The eighth edition of the awards honors movie music theatrically released between July 1, 2007 and June 30, 2008.
