the rest is just afterthough. think about it... when you listen to Atlanta '94, you are really wanting to hear Soldier Field '95, at least for the main set. You really only want Porch from Atlanta, and maybe Indifference instead of Yellow Ledbetter, depending on your fancy (and Jeremy too). No Code is the perfect "come down" album to such a classic classic bold declarative statement that is Vitalogy. The band was climbing a hill and produced Vitalogy. Tremor Christ, in Chicago '95, Ed says "Do you know what it's like?" to the audience... which perfectly encapsulates what I'm saying. The band reached its zenith with Vitalogy. Since then, they've been coming down the mountain, taking some side trails, going around it, and even at points trying to climb back up it (most notably with Avocado), but there are a lot of younger, fitter, less tired faces around which move more quickly, much less, a whole new means of scaling, surveying, and trodding the mountain and its paths...

Does this mean that you feel they should just pack it in and make way for newer, younger, better artists? That they really have nothing of artistic merit to contribute any longer?
I guess they could all retire to a surfing resort in Hawaii with their families while the rest of us migrate to the OB board.

That's because we had about 5 other Vitalogy-related threads during the same time. I remember that 1994-1995 was over-discussed at that point, which was pretty interesting.

Vitalogy is indeed their best. I do not agree with the rest of the moutain analogy though. Yield came very close to being as good, and few bands can even dream of starting things off with such a strong debut album -- though I realize your analogy looks at post-Vitalogy albums. Anyway, they've been climbing up again since Binaural. I have high hopes for the next album.
