My next question was going to be about retracking No Code. I'd want to add black red yellow, leaving here, dead man, and all night, and take out I'm Open, Off he Goes (sorry--I just hate that song), Mankind, and Around the bend. Right now I'm thinking about this (heavily indebted to 62strat's suggestion n the vs. thread. Other people's thoughts or suggestions?

1. all night
2. hail hail
3. black red yellow
4. who you are
5. Smile
5. In My Tree
7. Red mosquito
8. habit
9. sometimes
10. lukin
11. Leaving Here
12. Dead Man
13. Present Tense

I wasn't sure about that (same thing with crazy mary in the other section). But I suppose you are right.

Sigh

I think I would ditch all the b-sides and covers, and then go w/ the original tracklisting. But that's just me...

Exactly. Leave it up to the professionals.

But I have that album and have been listening to it for 9 years. It's fun to mix it up.

Of all the PJ albums, this is the last one that needs retracking. It is just brilliant and masterfully laid out from front to back. Just say no.

Here I strongly beg to differ. It has the worst ending of any of the Pearl Jam albums (mankind, I'm open, around the bend---ugh) and Off He Goes is like a six minute wall that just kills the momentum of the album (at least for me).

Oh man... while your opinion is certainly as valid as mine, I could never, ever imagine choosing "Leaving Here" over "Off He Goes." I also could never choose it over "Around the Bend" or "I'm Open."

Most of the board seems to disagree with me on Off He Goes, that song has just never done anything for me. It's actually one of the few pearl jam songs that I actively dislike. Around the bed is very pleasent, but kind of a boring way to close an album (given the awesome closers they have on their other albums). I always liked the idea of ending with Present Tense--which is a much stronger song. I'm open has great lyrics and eddie delivers them real well but as a song it just does little for me. ALl three of those might be better than leaving here, but leaving here is such a fun, spunky little number I always enjoy hearing it.

That's fine. We all enjoy different aspects of the band. Hopefully, one day I'll be able to appreciate "Leaving Here" as you do, because right now, it's one of my least favorite covers.

I made and listened to this cd yesterday.

1. all night
2. hail hail
3. black red yellow
4. who you are
5. Smile
5. In My Tree
7. Red mosquito
8. habit
9. sometimes
10. Lukin
11. Dead Man
12. Present Tense

I thought it was a really strong mix, although lukin all by itself towards the end is a bit jarring.
