I just watched single video theory today and can’t believe how long it’s been since some of the early record came out. How can a band stay relevant for that long and how can they have kept me interested and passionate about their music since 1991 ?
It’s crazy cause everyone as always know me as “the guy that REALLY likes Pearl Jam” and I just realized today that I’m still that guy 18 years later ... I'm sure most people on this board know what I'm talking about! All my friend had a favorite band in the early 90’s but I’m the only one still listening to “my band” and not just old records but brand new music.
I honestly don’t know why I felt the urge to share this observation but I’ve been blessed with great music and profound lyrics for a long time and I’m truly grateful.

amen brother

They're still relevant to us, but are PJ really still relevant?
what do you think ?
The last album had Worldwide Suicide on top 10 list everywhere and would have been twice the success if they would have released a radio edit of come back.

I've had similiar thoughts. The band that I fell for in college is still my band & have never broken up. And yes, I too am known as "that guy who really likes Pearl Jam". They haven't always made it easy to like them but the payoffs have been worth it.

What does that even mean? Whatever... I'm happy to still have new music and see them every other year.
is any band 'still relevant' in that way anymore?

the horror
Ha! High five, my man. High fucking five.
I'm not saying it would have been the way to go !
All I'm saying is that come back was the Black of the avocado album. Everybody agrees that if PJ would have released Black as a single in 92, they would have been bigger than King Kong. Well, Come back would have been huge if released as a single. The fact that their new record company didn't pressure them into releasing the song is still a mystery to me as they seemed to me like band trying to get the attention and the record sales up and running again (Storytellers, SNL, AOL sessions, Lollapalooza, TV interviews ...)

how? radio still played the shit out of it so everyone knows the song. It did help make them huge, I dont know if formally releasing it for sale as a single would have made much difference.
