Don't get me wrong, Ten is an amazing album. I probably listened to it 500 times in high school and would love to have PJ include more smoldering guitar solos in thier current output, but it represents a moment in time for PJ, and rock music in general, that has long since past.

I think, instead of offering the legacy edition, they should have offered digital downloads in a choose-your-own-price scenario.

No, I usually listen to the Vitalogy-NoCode-Yield era stuff. Daily, in fact.
I just think the album captures something special about the band, the seattle scene, and rock music at that time and applying today's technology and production styles to the album may make the sound better, but looses some of the feeling behind it. Maybe I'm just being old and nostalgic.

I don't listen to PJ anymore but I had no problem with Ten's production back then, I think even if I was still that much into the band I wouldn't want to have this new version.

Patrick Bateman only seems like a douche. After a while you can't help but love him and his posts. And I mean that. And he definately has a point in this thread. Bitching about PJ is fine to a degree....
Anyway, as far as the real topic of the thread...... I dunno. I'm definately not someone who isn't gonna buy. But I am seriously considering not buying the super duper awesome deluxe version. I got the stupid idea like 5 years ago that I'd collect everything PJ ever released but realized it's impossible and gave up. So now I wonder what the hell I'm gonna do with records and cassettes and such. $140 isn't a ton of money for me, but I'm getting married in 3 months and looking to buy a house, etc.... it just seems silly to spend an extra $100 for collector's items that nobody but me and my [future] wife will care about. I think I may just get the cheaper release.
I was originally excited about the super duper deluxe edition, but I can't justify and extra hundred bucks for stuff that will just sit on my shelf. So I'll probably end up getting the cheapo version.

I think that anyone considering not buying the new editions should at least check out the new masters of the original mix on iTunes once it's released. I went years without listening to Ten - a couple of years ago, I remastered it myself, and fell in love with it all over again. Most of what bugged me about the album went away. (I say this not having heard the new masters.)
The 1991 mastering was weak - not great for the time, but also that it was just before they really figured out how to master a CD. (In my mind, Vs. was the first "modern" master - it's amazing how well it holds up against CDs that were mastered in the last five or ten years. It's not overcompressed, but it's also not empty and vacant like most early CD masters.)

there may be a lot of reasons to not post here Iris, but these sorts of stupid pissing matches are really rare in here.
Bateman, Badmusic, et all. I didn't just lock this thread cuz there is some legitimate stuff people are talking about. I have better things to do with my time then deleting name calling and the like. this is a warning. If you have an issue with each other take it to PM. Don't make it everyone else's business. I have very little tolerance for it in chat.
