Hi, I ordered my deluxe Ten Reissue from Amazon to save on postage and because they advertised a bonus track you could download from their MP3 store of Once live from the Palladium. No problem getting the set, but getting the MP3 has been a nightmare -- their downloader wouldn't download, kept telling me I didn't have XP so it couldn't, but I do, they sent me an email when it was time to download, and the link was dead...their so-called customer service has been outrageous, I've been blatantly lied to more than a dozen times, no joke, many times from people in Bangalore, like there aren't enough people around here to treat me like garbage. After a month of it, I wrote a snail mail to Bezos, and it took two weeks to receive a condescending, non-helpful email reply from, get this, Executive Customer Relations, and when I wrote back and said, oh, come on, just help me, silence. I am furious, and I have to know, am I the only one who has this problem?? Thanks.

Thank you -- I love your signature. Makes it a little easier for me to breathe...
It's a little disturbing to think that I am the only one who ordered this from Amazon, or the only one who was screwed like this. But just last night, in the face of another howling silence on their part, I assured them that I am going to make sure I do all I can to ensure that they don't get away with this, but if they do, it won't be our little secret. I can't believe PJ would be indifferent to any vendor, never mind a major vendor, and one in Seattle, in range, shall we say, using an exclusive deal that they must have granted to them, to lure a PJ fan into making a purchase, and then not only not provide the bait promised, but treat her like dirt in the process. Consumers do have rights -- a dusty old concept, I know, but a legitimate one nonetheless. But I have to say, PJ is one of the few things that keeps me passing the open windows, and to have a piece of life's galling BS attach itself to them is...not fun.

I didn't order the reissue through Amazon.... but I will say that I have always found their customer service to be impeccable. I've had 3 or 4 orders over the years where items were missing. When I've called in, they are very easy to deal with and have just corrected the problem without any trouble.
Once, I ordered a DVD set, but when I got it, the case was empty - no dvd's at all! I assume someone had pulled a scam and somehow removed the dvd's and re-enclosed the case in plastic before returning it for a refund.... Anyway, they didn't even make me bother with sending back the empty case. They simply sent a new copy out and apologized for the problem. I was actually shocked that they didn't make a stink about it. It kind of surprises me that you were treated so poorly.
Re: their mp3's.... I've gotten a few "free downloads" either from them or on some other product. I was never able to get their download manager to work properly either. But I don't think I ever complained about it. Given the problems I had with the free mp3's, though, I probably will never purchase digital music from them.

I also ordered the reissue from Amazon, and downloading a new program just to get one MP3 was a little bit of a hassle, but I did anyways. Trust me, it is totally not worth it to go through any more hassle to try to get this. It's not a mind-melting new version that no one's heard before, and it's also a low-quality MP3. I think I deleted my copy. I know the principle of the thing might bother you, but srsly, you saved a bit of money from getting it from somewhere besides the TC and got free shipping, does it really matter that much?

drummerdave, I agree with you, I have always found their customer service very reliable -- I think the problem here is that this was a technical issue, not the matter of sending out another piece of merchandise or crediting an account. I've heard from others that their MP3 service stinks, now they tell me, but I should have guessed -- last summer, I was entitled to four free songs from them as part of a Pepsi promotion, and when I went to download their downloader THEN, I got that, you don't have XP, message -- I tried a few times and then said, screw it. Then when it happened for THIS, my eyes crossed. I do think I'm having this problem because they don't know what in the hell they are doing, that's when people go quiet on you. If they had any dignity, they'd offer me an apology and try to make it up in some other way. But they don't. They're Amazon. Eight hundred pound gorillas don't have to be civilized. That's why they can $hit where they want.
Thanks for the reassurance Simple Torture, I appreciate it. I always figured that a boot would show up one day if the version were something to hear, but I don't care if they offered a Polaroid of Dave A in the unemployment line; it's their making a false claim, and using PJ to do it, that has the hair on the back of my neck standing up, not to mention the treatment I've received. Rip offs in general make me furious, but I love music, and the bands that make the music I love most. When I was in the first grade, I busted a classmate right in the mouth for dissing Mick Jagger. At this stage, I've already reeled myself in as far as I can go. That's what matters so much to me. Oh, and yes, I do realize that I am completely unsuited for life in this society!!
Now, I have two addresses for Curtis Management in Seattle; can anyone tell me which is the right one? I have something to share with Kelly _________________________________________________________________ For what it's worth, to wrap this up, I GOT THE MP3 FROM AMAZON, and without the assistance of Super Duper Excecutive Grand Poobah Customer Relations!
Now if I could just get my hands on the bastard that jumped Jeff...
