No Code / Yield - Both very self-assured albums. Whereas the first three albums have elements of searching ("I am lost, I'm no guide"), these two are beacons and teachers ("makes much more sense to live in the present tense") or cycles.
As mray10 pointed out, there are essentially two eddies--the one who is lost that inhabits the early records (and some of the more despairing political tracks of later years) and the one who is essentially found, self assured and experienced enough to advance some answers--this guy really starts to appear in No Code and has largely dominated his writing since (although this guy was always waiting in the wings on the early records, just like the lost/searching eddie still appears today).
Which one do you all find more compelling?

...the political eddie... i suppose you could lump him in with the 'experienced eddie', but personally i'd like the political eddie to be killed off by the first two eddies.

But musically etc., i like the songwriter and musician he has become rather than what he was. not that there was anything wrong with what he was, but all this growth and knowledge? why give that up, and for what?
