Songs I'm still fairly fond of: Life Wasted (even if just for the bridge), WWS, Severed Hand, Marker, Parachutes, Inside Job (musically, the lyrics are bad), and Gone.

That makes this album a fairly good attempt, for me, except for some truly awful moments which bring it below Backspacer for worst album. Backspacer is an entertaining listen throughout. I'll take that over a spotty album, especially one with Big Wave on it.

S'true. Fuck Big Wave.

Yeah, when Backspacer first hit I thought it was much better than S/T and I still do.

I really like Avacado. Unemployable, WWS, Parachutes, Severed Hand, Inside Job (the lyrics may not be great, but dammit, they're not THAT bad). But if I head a gun to my head and had to choose which album to listen to from front to back, it'd be Backspacer.

My least favorite song in the entire PJ catalog. I'd rather listen to Gremmie Out of Control.

I think it's one of the best things on that record, along with Unemployable and Parachutes.

Yes. Big Wave is awful. The last 10 seconds or so it becomes interesting, and then, hey, fade out. Lame.

Gremmie Out of Control > Big Wave > WWS > Inside Job > Gone.

Yeah, Parachutes is clearly the best song here. Pretty song.

Parachutes is a good song, but Unemployable is my favorite from Avocado. It has a hint of a narrative to it (i.e. isn't just Eddie singing about being Eddie) and has a nice laid-back classic vibe.

I like the 70's rock vibe it has going on.

Yeah, absolutely. It sounds vintage and well put-together.

I'd like it a lot more if Eddie didn't have that scratchy sheen on his voice.

I tried to listen to this album yet again the other day. Yet again I got about halfway and got bored. It's so front-loaded.
