Jesus. It was just a joke. If I were to organize a bunch of people for a common purpose, getting Eddie off cigarettes would be pretty low on the list.
Hicks is amazingly funny. My favorite comedian tied with George Carlin.
who died of cancer.
Yeah. Pancreatic cancer. Not lung cancer.
Quote:
What are risk factors for pancreatic cancer? There are some factors which can increase the risk of acquiring the genetic mutations that may potentially result in pancreatic cancer. These risk factors are outlined in the table below. You will notice that coffee and alcohol are not listed. Currently there is not strong evidence to suggest that consumption of either substance will increase your risk for developing cancer of the pancreas.
1. Cigarette smoking Cigarette smoke contains a large number of carcinogens (cancer causing chemicals). Therefore, it is not surprising that cigarette smoking is one of the biggest risk factors for developing pancreatic cancer. For example, smoking during college has been associated with a 2-3 fold increased risk of pancreatic cancer.
Only smoking during college has been associated with a 2-3 fold increased risk? So by this research I can smoke now and not have to worry about this increased risk?
That's correct.
Fantastic. Good to know its that simple sometimes.

Well, I'm really not too concerned with "facts" and brainy information that comes from books. I'm more of a gut feeling kind of a guy. And my gut tells me that cigarette smoking does not cause pancreatic cancer. That's all the truthiness I need.
You could just go to a cancer hospital and visit someone who got it from smoking. That's not from books... Anyway, I just saw other world news that's related: most ocean pollution comes from plastic and: cigarettes.

Vedder still smokes weed though, right? No need to give that up...
nope
there's really no way any of us know this
He smokes on stage. He makes references to it on stage. Hell, he is lighting up during SVT. He burns. Dude, come on.
Shit got serious right around 1993.

In Phoenix last night, Ed told a long story about being stuck in Gila Bend with a broken down car when he was a teenager. Stayed some of the time with "grandpa" in a trailer and grandpa had the smoker's tracheotomy and spoke with the little mechanical box on his throat. Ed said he didn't smoke at that point and kind of muttered something about not being sure why he ever started after seeing that.
