We met Jeff that day & he said Ed had an injury(the barracuda sting?) but previous Neil in interviews in guitar magazines had said 'we're gonna play some of my songs, some of theirs..it's gonna be fun' but sadly it never happened..apart from meeting Jeff, we didn't even know for sure it was Pj til Jeffs basketball figures went up on the amps..that show was filmed on panavision cameras and directed by Jim Sheridan(Oscar nominated Irish director) but it never saw the light of day sadly..some day hopefully!

I've always had Ten in the 3rd spot because the individual songs on it are as good as any PJ album, see Black, Release, Porch, Oceans, Garden, etc. I'd still say Ten is their third best, but for a favorites list its fallen, since I really never have a desire to put it on. (Vs is better, and I like it more, than RA or S/T also FTR)
I'm still pretty uncomfortable with reading stuff like "vs is better", i like Ten best but i'm not saying it's better.
Por que? You don't like opinions being written as facts?
Not very much, actually i hate that.
You'd get along with my wife, she hates when I do that.
Go on...
For his sake, I hope his wife doesn't like french penis and baguettes.

I don't really care whether it's their best album. All i know is I come back to it more than any of their others.
This
I have been disillusioned by the endless numbering and ranking (it's as if I had just read High Fidelity again).
Binaural retains musical interest, a good flow and accessibility. The record begins with enough urgency to demand attention. In contrast, records like No Code or Riot Act patiently build.

This album has the best collection of quieter songs inthe PJ catalogue but the rocking songs lick the bag. Or maybe it's just the mix on them that sucks. Either way the songs they had remixed are what lets this album down. The binaurally recorded ones are great.
Binaural offers a Bell Curve of quality. Very little on shit speakers, a surprising amount on midrange, and then reveals a lifeless splatter on high quality equipment.
So if you listen on these, you get a flat sounding midrange, with almost painful high end.
If you listen on these, you get what seems like a remarkable soundscape (but is really what most albums sound like on high end equipment).
And if you use high end items, the midrange and low end reveal a muddy quality. The high end does, however, offer a shimmer and sparkle that would be remarkable if the low end was cleaner. This shim-and-spark high def quality is probably what makes it feel sharp and brittle under low-tech conditions.

I have two tall black speakers that sit on the floor. They have holes in the bottom of them with gray stuffing inside.
I put on binaural and sit down with one spearker three feet in front of me and also three feet to the left--the other speaker same thing but three feet to the right
then, a wonderful horseshoe of sound appears before me with points of sound occurring anywhere within that 180 degree curve. You can have a knocking sound at 14 degrees and a curved bell over at 127 degree.
Binaural--never experienced anthing like it.
Its the honey badger of albums. It doesn't give a shit. This album wants people to hear how great it sounds but if they don't, it doesn't give a shit.
Binaural.
