· Re-designed packaging

Where'd this come from?

The O'Brien disc also includes six previously unreleased songs from the era: early versions of "Breath" and "State of Love and Trust," "Brother" (with vocals, not the instrumental version from the 2003 rarities collection "Lost Dogs"), "Just a Girl," "Evil Little Goat" and "2,000 Mile Blues," a Stevie Ray Vaughan-inspired jam with improvised vocals from frontman Eddie Vedder.

That would be funny if it just ended up being Yellow Ledbetter.

I highly doubt it, though. If it said "Hendrix-inspired jam," then I'd be concerned.

I have, and it definitely kicks ass (as does the version on "Layla"), but Hendrix's version is still #1 imo. But regardless, if it was YL, I think they would have just called it that.

They called 'Breath' 'Breath and a Scream' though. Hm.

wasnt yellow ledbetter originally called 'yellow letter' ? although i can see the title '2,000 miles blues' being appropriate for YL

You might be right. I'd be willing to bet that 2,000 Mile Blues is the improv from the first week rehearsals tape that evolved into Yellow Ledbetter. Another thing that makes me believe that is the inclusion of Goat which can also be found on the first week rehearsals.

I'd be suprised if this was anything other than yellow ledbetter. The 'newness' here comes from getting what presumably are clearer versions of old demos/outtkes (girl/brother) and the obrien remixes.

This is disappointing news. Nothing we haven't heard before?

I dig this quite a bit.

Crunchy blues, with a cool solo.
