If I'm not mistaken, that album was recorded in Seattle by Adam Kaspar (producer of Riot Act and S/T) - there's your Ed connection.

Perhaps Chan was a fan and asked Adam to ask Eddie to come along?

Is her just on the "Evolution" song? Or is he involved elsewhere?

In a weird display of fate, EV's appearance on You Are Free are what prompted me to buy that album before I was really in to indie. Now, with the help of Cat Power and numerous other artists, I've sort of turned my back on Pearl Jam and fallen hard for Matador, Kill Rock Stars, Merge and Paw Tracks releases.

Funnily enough, I abandoned Pearl Jam altogether around 1999 or so for Cat Power, Smog, etc.

Over time, I came to realise Pearl Jam are still pretty good. No Code really helped bring me back, something made me listen to that when I hadn't in around four or five years and it hit me like a ton of bricks.

It's odd, though - Pearl Jam are still a bit of "guilty pleasure" for me. I get tons of ribbing from everyone I know for liking them and I'm a little embarrassed to admit to anyone I meet that I'm fond of them. This past week, I'm definitely feeling a bit "over" the band, but I think that's probably the come-down from the new album hysteria. I'll be very excited to see them next month still.

I totally know what you mean. Every word. Well, I'm not seeing them live, but you get the idea.

It's so silly to be embarrassed of the music you like.

Saw her open up for Blitzen Trapper. Her dad was in the band and he's a pretty damn good musician. Wailed on several different stringed instruments.

I downloaded her latest album last spring after I saw a thread on RM. She's great
