I guess there is no reason to lock this since we don't really have a thread about it yet
And welcome to the board

this doesn't work for me, i don't know about anybody else.... i've heard it plenty, just thought i'd mention it.
Doesn't work for me either. To other-band'ish. And the lyrics (although very very short) are terrible.
"Gonna See My Friend and make it go away. I'm sick of everything, I'm gonna see my friend and make it go away... Gonna See my friend"
All that said, it's still a "decent" tune. The scream picks it up from being an awful song to being mediocre. I'd rank it as my least favorite of all the backspacer songs so far.

I'm not sure how you can really judge such a small selection of lyrics without having some kind of context to surround it. There are plenty of great Pearl Jam lyrics that would look awful on first listen with only a small sample.

That's why I said (although very very short). I agree with your point. But, from what I heard of the song, that's my opinion.

All the lyrics we've heard so far seem to deal with death, illness or struggle, and fighting to find a way out. I'm looking forward to seeing how the album works together as a whole.

It's amazing that Ed can still write like a really depressed dude when he's a multi millionaire with a hot girlfriend, family and a cool dog.

It's called empathy.
