if Ed isn't there it isn't PJ.

Years ago I proposed what might happen if Stone ever left the group. Would PJ continue on, and refer to those past years as "The Stone Age"?
Several people replied that No Stone = No Pearl Jam.
At this point, I would say that rings true for everyone in the band...possibly even Matt. Strange to think that he is now easily their longest-tenured drummer. Seems like yesterday that he joined...to me anyway. They seem content as a group and losing/replacing someone at this point would spell the end of the band and spawn a lot of side projects and/or solo careeers.
Boom could go and they'd be fine, but PJ songs without Ed singing are not good.
**OK I thought about that way too much. Longwinded...my bad.

If we are talking about the sessions leaking then I'd very much be interested but I'd not want them to officially release an album or ep without Ed.
yeah pretty much. but I still wouldn't mind an ed-less EP if it was all instrumentals.
Do you reckon PJ has the compositional skill to put together an EP of interesting instrumentals? Not sure myself.
I think they do, the three instrumentals that came out of the Binaural sessions are pretty intresting, if you take ed's vocal off of I'm Still Here its a pretty interesting instrumental melody also
also look at the short Jazz jams they've been playing (much like the intro to Last Exit on Vitalogy), Master/Slave, Hummous, the jams they used to do before Immortality or Insignificance
Hell you can put all that together and have a compilation instrumental EP right there.
I realize Ed had a hand in some of those, so I'm not particularly catering to a Ed-less PJ scenario here.
But even without Ed, the other members are accomplished musicians with three decades of experience under their belt and I have no doubt they could create some cool instrumental pieces.

Well, Foldback, Harmony, and Thunderclap were all at least listenable, and I would love if their intro music at a show was Foldback. So, yeah, I think it's possible.
Oh, and Harmless, what did you think of Barack Around the Clock?
