Pearl Jam’s Forthcoming Album, Backspacer, Out September 21st on Universal/Island Records

Live Concert Audio to be Given Away as An Added Bonus with CD or Itunes Purchase

Pearl Jam have announced that fans who purchase their eagerly anticipated new studio album ‘Backspacer’ (released Sept 21st) on CD or from ITunes will be able to download the audio from their choice of two entire Pearl Jam concerts from a selection o£11 US shows.

Both the limited edition and standard CD features an exclusive Ebridge which gives fans nearly five (5) hours of additional audio. This exclusive giveaway marks the first-time an artist has allowed fans to access their live music vault while purchasing a new album.

The live concert audio can be accessed by inserting the new ‘Backspacer’ into a personal computer or by clicking the link provided by iTunes with the album purchase.

The gigs available for download with the purchase of ‘Backspacer’ are Halifax (22/09/05), Philadelphia (03/10/05), Santiago (21/11/05), Chicago (17/05/06), Grand Rapids (19/05/06), Camden (28/05/06), E Rutherford (06/03/06), San Francisco (16/07/06), New York (25/06/06), Hartford (27/06/08) and Mansfield (28/06/08).

The band will be able to update the content at any time – meaning fans may have access to more bonus features in the future.

Backspacer is available for pre-order now and first single “The Fixer” is out on September 7th on Universal/Island Records.

Don't get yr hopes up too much....due to whatever legal reason w/ Sony the band doesn't actually own the rights to a lot of the pre-2000 shows.

Expect a bunch of shows that have already been released over the past few years...so it won't be too much of a big deal.

Hopefully in the not too distant future they will be able to put some more cool stuff on the web for the hardcore fans....

thanks.

--a--

You know that for sure?

The Billboard article specified the shows would span the band's whole career.

yep.....maybe in the future it will, but not now.

So SeaTut73 was right after all.

Not bad but I was hoping for some much older stuff from the vaults with amazing sound board quality. Time will tell what they offer in the future.

Well, its hard to complain about free audio directly from the band, but its unfortunate that they're fairly recent concerts.

That 6/25/06 New York show is actually 6/25/08.

Sounds like all Backspacer CDs will have access to the download the shows; so think the 10C version will work. phew

Note this seems a press release from the 10C yet there's no trace of it on the official site.

No.
So while I agree with an above poster that free audio is cool, they aren't giving us anything we couldn't aready have purchased (or anything we can't get freely on the net).

Personally, I don't really care. I have enough bootlegs and prefer the later tours anyway. I do kind of wish there was a couple '98 shows though.

Glad i never bought the '08 box set then....No complaints...free is free, so long as it works on all versions of the CD, everyone should be pleased.

on the bright side the press release says there may be more additions in the future. It says bonus features so i guess it's not limited to bootlegs alone.

Didn't the original press release say the shows would be 'spanning their career'?
So much for that
Can'y say I'm suprised by this, though.

This is what Curtis said in an interview. There was no press release from the 10C as far as i know about this whatsoever.

They better at least be fully mixed and mastered and better sound like Live on Two legs.

Agreed. I didn't really think that they were going to include a bunch of old classic shows as free giveaways at this point. There is a market to sell those down the road if they pursue this vault thing.

I wouldn't count on this.
