Hitchhiker is 100 times better than Johnny Guitar :)

That's actually a pretty interesting point, psychologically. I had to think about that some more. Because it's true, this song PISSES ME OFF (in a bad way) whereas other songs I don't like don't provoke that degree of vitriol. I don't think I have an answer that I can really defend to anyone else, but it's something like this:

The other songs I don't like by PJ sound to me like (relatively) bad songs by my favorite band. This song sounds to me like a mediocre song by a much stupider band.

By "stupider" I just mean something about the sensibility of the song, where it feels to me like it's coming from. I'm sure this says more about me than it does about the song.

It's an album track. But a very satisfying one. 4/5

Got Some - Fixer - Jonny - Just Breathe is probably my favourite section of the album now.

It has one of my favorite lyrics ever in it. "Now Johnny, he be having lots of woman." I give it four stars though. It was definitely one of those songs where I saw the title and had low expectations for it, but it told a good story.

Haha, not as brilliantly written as "U".

Absolutely love this song. It may end up being my favorite off of Backspacer. 4 Stars for now. Could easily end up being 5 stars. Just a little too early to tell.

This song is a good example of "it's not what you say, it's how you say it".

4 stars

I think it's entirely possible that Stip thinks and studies a songs lyrics and the meaning of a song much much more than Ed ever even does. lol

True. It's maybe 3.5* but not quite a 4 in PJs catalogue. The fade out is a disappointment and when you go straight into Amongst The Waves, Backspacer is a much better album.

Does anyone know if the lyrics came before the picture on the cover or the other way round?

Great song, the only thing i hate is the fucking fade out.
The guitars here sound awesome, i hope they could sound like this the entire record, specially in ATW...

The music is brilliant like with "Evacuation" and "Cropduster" and typically people are too stupid to get it because they're either focusing on Eddie and ignoring the music, or else they're disappointed that it's not the kind of song you can pump your fist and sing along to. 5/5

It would be awesome if Eddie was more subdued in the mix here.

I really don't like songs that have the "coming" double entendre. I know it has a long and storied history in rock 'n' roll, I just don't really like it.

Decent Backspacer tune. I like the music and vocal delivery, but the Aerosmithesque lyrics bring it down a notch.

3 stars.

I think, however, in this song it was done tastefully.
