If someone has a few minutes and is feeling ambitious I'd be very curious how the various Ten/Backspacer songs are ranked on Rockband (how many stars the guitars, bass, drums, vocals have)

I don't have the breakdown in front of me but it is all fairly easy.
I think the highest difficulty is drums on Gonna see My Friend.
Guitar is a cakewalk.

There are 7 tiers (1 easiest, 7 hardest) - keep in mind 1 "star" (or dot) is tier 2, because you can have zero stars (dots). You can also have 5 dots (tier 6) and 5 devil faces (7th tier).

Alive : Tier 4 on all
Alive (Live) : Tier 4 Vocals & Bass, Tier 5 drums & guitar, band =4
Amongst The Waves: Bass = 2, Guitar = 3, drums = 4, vocals =5, band = 2
Black: Bass = 2, guitar & drums = 3, vocals = 4, band =2
Brother: Bass =2, drums & vocals = 4, guitar =5, band =3
Deep: Bass = 3, drums & guitar & vocals = 4, band =3
Even Flow: Bass =3, drums & vocals = 4, guitar = 5, band = 4
Force of Nature: Bass & Guitar = 3, Vocals & drums = 4, band = 3
Garden: Bass =2, drums & vocal =4, guitar = 5, band = 3
Gonna See My Friend: Bass & Guitar = 3, drums = 4, vocals =5, band = 3
Got Some: Bass & Guitar =2, drums & vocals = 5, band = 3
Jeremy: Guitar = 3, drum & bass = 4, vocals = 5, band = 3
Johnny Guitar: Guitar = 2, drum & bass = 4, vocals = 5, band =2
Just Breathe: Bass = 1, drums = 2, vocals = 3, guitar = 6, band = 3
Master/slave = tier 1 on all
Oceans: tier 2 on vocals ans guitar, tier 1 on rest

Once: bass = 2, tier 4 on all else
Porch: tier 5 on everything
Release = bass = 1, tier 2 on all else
Speed of Sound: bass = 2, guitar = 3, vocals & drums = 4, band = 3
State of Love & Trust: tier 4 bass, tier 5 on all else
Supersonic: bass = 3, vocals & guitar & drums = 4, band = 3
The End: Bass = 2, vocals = 3, guitar = 4, band = 2 (no drum part)
The Fixer: Bass = 2, guitar = 3, drums = 4, vocals = 6, band = 3
Unthought Known: bass & guitar = 3, drums = 4, vocals = 5, band = 2
Why Go: vocals & drums = 4, bass & guitar = 5, band = 5

Notes:
According to Rockband, Why Go would be the hardest song. Just Breathe is actually the hardest on guitar (!).

SOLAT is hard as fuck.

Most of their songs are middle of the pack as far as difficulty goes.

Oops sorry i thought you asked just about Backspacer.

Yeah Ten is much more difficult overall but still not too bad on most instruments.

Nice Breakdown Sandler

stip, do you play Rockband?

It is so fun playing Pearl Jam in the game. Actually, it's a fun game anyway.

I don't have a system that could run it. I've done a bunch of the ten songs with friends who have it though. It is a fun game.

I have trouble with the last bit of vocals in the outro

The Ten songs are way harder in general than the Backspacer songs. Just Breathe is hard on guitar, and Got Some is hard on drums. That's about it for that album.

And Rockband got me to realize how crazy the drums are during the jam at the end of Alive. Holy shit.
